autox/DD build
Alright, I finally broke down and am going to start my own thread. So like the standard format, let me start off with the history. Well, I have only had my 1989 CRX dx for a week at this point, I bought it for $500 and it was a crank w/ no start. The guy towed it 40 miles to my house for above price. I fiddled with it for a bit and found out that the screw that held the rotor to the distributor fell out. I screwed it in and viola, a running crx with 264k miles, bone stock with working a/c. I got plugs and wires just because they needed to be done badly.
So, I am $550 into the car (came with a tank of gas) and I got historic tags (since it is an 89) and signed up for autox in the local PCA group. I went out and spanked many porsche's and such but she needs more, the bug has bitten.
The car is spray painted black by the PO poorly done at that (I like the black over the horrid blue) I decided to pull the carpeting out and get ready to remove some sound deadening, I will be running the majority of my trim panels as it is a DD and I like it to at least appear to be a car. Here are a few pics, MPFI conversion, rear disc conversion, and wheels w/ better tires than the 175/70/13's coming soon.
I hope you enjoy my project as much as I will.

first thing, im pretty sure they will revoke your historic tags if they find out that you autocross with the car. because im pretty sure they will frown on that.
second, about 80% of the guys that drive porsche's don't drive them hard, at all. it's more like bragging rights, saying that " i race my car, i autocross it" when actually they don't go over 35mph through the whole course.

And my best time was 58 seconds (I count myself as a reasonably skilled driver), and the best times there were from what I heard the 47's. My instructor that was with me (required for first timers at their autox's) can drive, he was crazy in his own car. Don't just type what you fell like at the time. I saw a 911 turbo sideways at 40 flattening cones, I would rethink what you imagine porsche owners to be like.

Re: autox/DD build
I will put pics up tomorrow, but just as a teaser. I am going to do my best to retrofit the stock dx seat pans to the RSX black leathers. I may even make a writeup to help people out. I would say it should take someone an hour to do the swap but I am still iffy on it working, and still being reasonable.

Re: autox/DD build
So I found the swap to be a bit more difficult due to height restrictions. I finally have it finished and have a negligible difference <1" difference from stock DX seats. I have only finished the passenger side (so I could still drive while figuring it out.) Here are some shots of it installed, I need to button up some final things but all in all it turned out well. I don't think I need to do any welding, if I do its one little tac-weld. We will see...
Enjoy...
Enjoy...

They fit me pretty well, I am 6'2" so hopefully all is well when I get it in there. If all else fails, I am sure someone with a rex wouldn't mind picking up a set of rsx seats that bolt in for under $200

Re: autox/DD build
Alright, well the seats are in there (don't have pics cause it is raining) and the trim is all in there minus carpeting. I put two Si tails on the corners but I am still trying to source an Si center taillight. My buddy is going to give me a y8 head so I will have a bit more power coming soon, I still am in the process of getting the last little bit of parts for my mpfi swap, as I bought a "complete" setup and I didn't get everything I paid for (by a H-T person at that). Here is a pic of the newly painted center piece as I hated the look of the other one so much I had to do something. I also picked up a nice set of enkei 5 spoke wheels they are brand new with a new set of toyo proxes that will do nicely around the cone track... Enjoy, and expect more updates soon as things are coming together nicely.

Re: autox/DD build
Some pics of the seats in as promised, my fist was squinched in there but I can fit all four fingers with room to spare, and I fit just as well with my helmet on as I did with the stockers.
