I believe only the flywheel differs.
And everything else stays the same.

Any chance you would sell the blown up transmission? I am looking for a 4 Speed or HF 2nd gear for a transmission I am rebuilding.

if you have a d series engine, any D transmission will bolt right up. only difference is input shaft. whatever year the transmission is, thats what year clutch you have to order. only thing to look for is cable vs hydro.

yes, 90-91 have the same input for the clutch disc. 4 spd and 5spd have the same outer case, and same shift linkage. so any 4 or 5 spd transmission from any 90-91 would bolt up with absolutely no extra hassle.

You would need mounts and a cable to hydraulic conversion kit for your clutch.

the mounts are simple, just sometimes a little pricy. the clutch conversion is where it gets tricky. hasport, energy, and innovative all make a bolt-on kit that simply converts the cable bracket to a master cylinder actuator. (which, like the mounts, can be pricy) but yeah, simplest route is stick with an EF trans.

The conversion kits are garbage and will not work properly (ask me how I know). Unless you want to dive right in and do a legit hydraulic setup, don't bother with hydraulic trannys.

Yeesh, that's steep. I hope it's gold plated for that price.

I would aim for a dx 5 speed trans. It'll make driving the car more enjoyable. I absolutely hated everything about my factory 4 speed heap of metal trans.

You could rebuild it yourself with a kit or buy a rebuilt one from these guys. I have never heard any complaints about this company.

On the junk yard purchase just look for a car with an obvious reason for being there. If the body looks ok then it is there for mechanical reasons. Find one that was in an accident then there is a better chance it was running before the accident.

Count the splines on the input shaft. 88 is different from 89/91.

Think about where the input shaft is located and you'll have your answer.

The physical trans will fit. Count the splines on both input shafts. You have to match the clutch disc spline count to the input shaft spline count. That would be the only possible difference.
