So my civic's power train is starting to wear out at 447, 000kms and both the auto tranny is slipping in 3rd and my motor is starting to eat a bit of oil. Finding an exact engine with low miles from 1991 is going to be tough and I wanted to know what would be my best power train swap options if pick motors and granny's from 99-00 civics. I know that a d16y7 motor will drop right in (assuming I put the dpfi manifold onto the new engine) but I don't think the automatic tranny will not work properly because it's different no? I need a motor and tranny swap that I can easily do with minimal re-work. I have done plenty of honda engine pulls but I hate wiring work so I try to avoid it all costs.

Suggestions from the EF experts?

dont put the dpfi on a mpfi motor it will run like **** iv done it

i just checked out the website and realized that shipping to Canada would likely be extremely cost prohibitive.

You say that DPFI on a D16Y7 would make it run like crap can you elaborate on that a bit more?

I realize that the D15B in the car right now when cold runs like crap (uneven cold idle and the occasional stall) but I was more looking for something that was quick and dirty that works reliably.

I'm not overly concerned about HP per se. Just an engine and transmission swap that will run at least as good as how it would from factory.

i put a d16a6 from an Si (mpfi) into a Dx and used the dpfi manifold...it ran awesome. got 47mpg too. i know a couple people who have done it with no problems. that said, i have a 90 crx parts car...d15b auto just like you have. i don't know about shipping, but i would sell it cheap. pm me if you're interested.

Stay in the D-series or ZC motors for ease.
