91 EF hatch chronic smoker
So, I upgraded my stock d15b1 with a header/catback exhaust and k&n cold air intake, and after all that I started noticing smoke at the high-end rpm, most noticeably. it is blueish tinted smoke, and usually happens when I get the engine hot, drive hard and let off the gas, then accelerate and the smoke comes pouring.
plugs look like they have some oily carbon deposits around the end of the threading, and the ground electrodes are white looking.
Just replaced the valve seals this week. but still smokes high-end rpm. dry compression is good, almost within 5% tolerance.
I dont run a cat and so it looks like my car is always smoking after it warms up, but I believe it is vapor because it disappears, and doesn't smell like oil. Aren't catalytic converters to reduce vapor emissions ?
i've been having this ongoing problem for a year now. decided to go to the forums to figure it out.. any ideas are appreciated.

That is one possibility I am looking at... though, that would be a final diagnosis. Car is not worth re-ringing yet... don't know if I'm gonna keep it long enough to rebuild. So let's look at cheaper reasons.?
Doing some research about PCV valves and oil catchers, I noticed a a lot of sludge buildup on my oil catcher; furthermore, when I replaced my PCV valve it was full of sludge! I had to replace the hose. the oil catcher looked like it was full of sludge.
The only information I have been able to gather is that that may cause oil to blow-by into the intake manifold... and also looking into my intake manifold I notice a lot of oily sludge. car does idle a little rough after it warms up....
second opinions maybe? I should probably clean my PCV oil catcher, but how do I do this?

d15b1=notaracecar. Time for a rebuild, your engine is shot. Lots of blow by means you are due for a rebuild. Signs are all there.

the pcv valve is full of ****, clogged PCV means increased crankcase pressure.. so i think the rings are not the issue as compression tests say otherwise

I mean I get you're trying to troubleshoot rather than throw parts at the car, so I can appreciate that. Clean the PCV and see what happens. Worst case it's not the PCV and you're still in the same boat.
