2x0 was extremely helpful when I was troubleshooting the same issue just to get my car on the road. I ended up with the same issues as you, over heating unless I either had the hood off or bumper off. 205+ temps. My FMIC is even larger + thicker than yours so it blocks nearly all the air going to my Skunk2 rad.

Switching to a really good pull fan REALLY helped even though it is a really tight fit.

Overheating is still not solved, but the car stays cool with the hood off it so I drove it that way all summer. I'll be watching closely as you work on a solution Car looks great, I follow on IG so staying pretty up to date!

Rando question - why didn't you take the windshield off when you painted it?

so I’m cruising with my bumper on as of now. Work in 10 miles one way and today the fan never even kicked on (set at 199) and temp never went above 197 BUT it’s mid 50’s outside. I did trim some more of my bumper I’ll upload a picture or two tomorrow. You can’t tell where I cut. I also got a new aftermarket bumper in I’ll trim up and use for experimentation before I cut more into this one. Did you trim your intercooler portion of the bumper up to your black trim?

honesty I should have no idea how I forgot it. I removed the trim and inspected it then just slipped my mind to remove it. Come full circle I’ve already replaced the windshield because it cracked and safelite did not do the best job on the molding install. Not at the top of my list now at this moment but it does irk me a little

I had a 3-inch core so I had to trim nearly all of the inner area on the bumper.

I know the feeling the GTC600 is 3.5” core. So far she’s been good. Fan does come on randomly but nothing of any concern yet. She doesn’t go above 199 with my fan kicking on above 197. Corbeau seats are fitted so took photos. Next video will be an over view of the kit with some in car pulls and such.

So coolant temperate doesn’t seem to go above 199 still and I have my fan kick on at 197. 2x0 let me know the Spal fan he’s using so I snagged it up along with Spal fan relay. It’s wired in like oem but straight from the battery for power. Here’s some pictures of the ducting/shields.

This piece I painted black. It goes on the side of the radiator going towards the T-Bar. The little cutout is for the routing of my wastegate boost lines.

Made a block off plate out of some aluminum and spray painted it black. Sort of sealed it in with some yellow reflective tape. It’s sort of just held in via the wastegate and my coolant reservoir

Last Saturday night car meet of the year.

So 13lbs is fun, 2nd gear on 13lbs she spins but 2nd gear on 10 is manageable. I’m thinking a second set of wheels maybe some Kosei K1’s and then some 888r’s on them. Assuming that will hook better. Then go back and get a retune up to maybe 18-20lbs or so then have my boost by gear maps on a switch. My main issue with Kosei K1’s is they come in gloss black and I’m not sure how that will look versus everything being satin/matte on the car now.

What's the model number on the fan?

Homemade shroud looks like a good idea. I may have to do that on my hatchback, always had overheating issues.

Koseis are a classic wheel.

so i bought some Kosei K1's and got them wrapped with 888r's. Holy traction vs my Falken Azenis. I still have my slipstream setup as I LOVE the look. Ordered some tire letters for these tires too so just waiting on those to come in. Hondata CPR also installed and fired right up so super stoked about that. While installing my CPR kit and letting it the car idle i just noticed the BOV bigger oring was not seated. So i pulled the BOV seated it and went about my day. The first drive the car was a NEW car holy crap. So before the car held 10psi on the gate and it would hold it to redline etc. We used the boost controller and topped out just at 13psi because the tuner said it was running out of steam up top and to be honest I was like eh I'm cool with 320whp. So with the boost controller turned on which made 10psi by 4600rpms and slowly ramped up to high 13psi by 8500rpms. Just fixing that BOV oring i now I made 14psi at 4600 and crept to 15psi. The car is an ANIMAL, so much im going to try and get the car retuned this upcoming week because its hitting areas on the map it didn't before since its coming in so much sooner. I have a feeling just tweaking the fuel tables she will make 350 on 14lbs and from there maybe ill turn her up to 18lbs for some fun especially since these tires freaking hook. Wastegate spring btw was changed out and now holds 8psi, doing this so i have more control with boost by gear to aid in traction.

Well, damn eBay/china coolant temp sensor decided to stop working randomly during my drive yesterday. Ordered a new OEM one from the dealer which will be swapped tomorrow then the dyno on saturday.

Decided to put together a slightly bigger can thats 4 ports vs 2ports. i changed out the plug on the bottom with an actual 1/2npt plug.

quick alignment in prep for dyno weekend.

Nice job on the catch can. I've been getting back in the saddle on aluminum welding and feel about good enough to start making some small things for my car.

What did you use to plug the holes for the wiper motor? Is that a custom piece?

@iwannarace IIRC you can use a Firewall A/C plug, may require some trimming.

OP's looks like a custom/homemade plate.

Yeah, the catch i was in maybe $40 on materials? bought some bungs, i think its a 3" aluminum tube etc etc. i believe i have enough material to make another minus the bungs even

just took some aluminum and made a little plate as coop mentioned.

Update:
I was installing the hondata Cpr kit and while the car was idling i had noticed the oring on the bov was not seated. I removed the bov and seated the oring then proceeded for a little drive down the road. immediately pulling out of my garage I noticed the bov actuated much earlier in the rpm and was louder. got to the end of the block and gave her some gas and the car felt wildly faster. grabbed the laptop and did a datalog. beforehand i made 10psi @ 4600rpms but not i made 15psi @ 4660. I was ecstatic and decided to do some of my own tweaking but running off just wastegate pressure it was holding 12lbs now as opposed to the 10 it did on the dyno. Because the fuel map was all different now with boost coming in earlier i decided to run around without the boost controller until i could get her retuned. It now clicked in my bed that this was probably the culprit why it wasn't responding well up top giving the boost controller more duty. before it would hit 14.5psi but fall down to like 13.7 and hold it. give the solenoid more and it just wouldn't do anything. well now leaving the duty at 50% it built 15psi super early in the rpm range versus falling from 14.5 way up top. I was for sure thinking I would make like 400wheel easily now and honestly I believe i would have. I really want to autox this car so i decided to remove that spring and put a smaller one in which now on the street held 7.8-8psi. I now have traction in 2nd gear as before with wastegate at 12psi I did not. Changing the spring now shot me in the foot because with my 3port it now makes 15ish and holds steady at 14.5. With that bigger wastegate spring, it definitely helped spool. So new results now are laid over the other chart. Basically 1.5lb of boost more and it holds better without the leak. We messed with the quickspool within the s300 on the street and it seemed to work quite well but during shifts it would have a hiccup so for now, that's turned off. For now, I'm staying here, so hopefully, I can autox running off just 8lb wastegate.

Great work, I’ve watched a number of your YouTube vids and really like the setup and attention to detail. Wanted to ask where you got the dash gauge pod from?

honesty I’m really not sure, I ordered a quaife quick steer rack and intend on buying a dx rack. It says out of stock everywhere what I found one on eBay. Time will tell if I get a refund or receive it. Maybe some Wilwood brakes?

i can’t do car show because some of the imperfections irk me but I can’t put the car back down because I LOVE driving it. That I need to get over. Sort of an OCD thing. Cooling has still been good, I have the fan setup to go on at 197 and she peaks at 199 and that’s as high as she goes. Doesn’t run constantly but does run. Can’t say we’ve even had an 80 degree day yet though so as it gets warmer I will find out.

Drag strip and autox is 100% on the list. Now that football is over I’m hoping our 1/8 mile track opens back up soon. I’d prefer 1/4 but all we had is 1/8. Autox I saw is starting back up too (2hrs from me) so I’ll probably trailer her to that so I’m not as scared to beat on her. Another reason for the 8lb spring. This weekend I’m going to try and make a video of some pulls mixed with my dyno pulls, me chatting and such of my overall experience with the goautoworks kit. I really am enjoying the crap out of. This little turbo is PERFECT for what I wanted. Stay tuned for some drag strip some hopefully soon fingers crossed she can handle Florida 90 degree heat

doesn't take much effort or $ to paint the grab handle on the ebrake.........
It pulls right off, use a matte or satin paint a light coat does wonders.

it’s on the agenda one of these weekends actually. First I decided to build a shroud since the dimensions of the EF Skunk2 radiator is smaller than the EG.

1/8”piece of aluminum cut a little undersized of the fun area on the radiator allowing for my 1/16” L angle

Decided to put some high temp rtv between all the joints just to ensure a seal

Made little aluminum brackets to attach to the radiator

Wiped off most the excess rtv followed up with some foam to help seal some more and black spray paint

annnnd a BEAUTIFUL mid 70’s day this past Saturday so I went out and took some photos
