91 Crx front end on 88 hatch
Ok so I know this has probalby been covered numerous times but the only thing I could end up with was that you would have to modify the hatch fenders. Am I correct?
So I was wondering if I just bought the CRX fenders, bumper, and hood(I need one anyway) Would they all bolt up to my hatch just fine and would I need anything else(radiator support, bumper brackets etc..)? I am also aware about the 91 having a different headlight bracket and corner lights and I've already bought the 91 lights.
The reason I ask is beacuse someone local is selling a complete crx front end and since I need a new front end I thought I might as well get this one.
Thanks in advance for the help.
Eli

Yea the hoods are the same but the bumper is different as it doesnt have the filler panel and also because of that is why I think the fenders are different. I'm up to doing a little modification but really wanted to know if the fenders are basically the same length.

fenders are different because of the plastic piece at rocker panel. I was going to do the same thing the other day but noticed that.

everything will bolt up but the fenders down by the door are diffrent you either have to cut and weld the hatch fenders to the crx where the molding goes to make it look good with out alot of body work. You could modify the crx lower plastic peice too fit i wish i had taken pictures of my friend hatch we did it on.

i think people are getting confused here... he owns an 88 hatch, and wants to put a 91 front end on the hatch, not the other way around. as far as i know the only difference in fenders is like what was said the missing piece on the bottom of the fender. but you should be able to use the hatch fenders on the hatch.

You dont want to just us the crx bumpers because the bumpers wont line up with the fenders and it will look like ****. the civic bumper is shaped different to match the shape of the civic fenders. If you want the crx front end you will have to either use the crx plastic filler or use cut and weld fenders.

Re: 91 Crx front end on 88 hatch
Ahhh ok its all coming together now. So the bumper will bolt on BUT obviously there will be a gap in between the bumper and front fender corner because of the lack of a filler panel on the crx bumper. If thats all there is then that little gap can be fixed.
I completely forgot my neighbor owns a crx I'll go down there and compare the two.
Thanks again for the help and if there's anything else keep it coming!
Thanks
Eli

Yea I thought about that but then the fenders wont line up with the bumper which is why I am wanting to know if the crx fenders will bolt up to the hatch without a TON of modification.
Heres how it looks with a crx bumper and stock fenders(notice the gap):

the part that i was taking about is in red. It the section on the hatch fender that is diffrent then the crx and you have to mod the lower black plastic peice from the crx

Re: 91 Crx front end on 88 hatch
Ohhhh I see now lol thanks for the pics! They are very helpful. Looking at this brings up another question: If I leave out the lower plastic trim peice will the fender line up with the door? Basically can I bondo the holes left by the trim piece and you couldnt tell it was supposed to be there?
And also how does the front portion line up?
Thanks
Eli
