I have a 1991 civic si that was stolen a couple of years ago and recovered minus all seats. I've had a hell of a time trying to find replacements. The car was towed today because of registration I assume. Kind of hard to register without seats. It has 40K miles on it so I would like to keep it but with all of the impound and towing fees I'm not sure if it is worth it. It has a salvage title due to the seats and scratched paint job. Is it worth the $500 to get it out of impoundment? I was hoping to get some opinions from members on the board. Thanks for listening.

I don't think it's worth it. The mileage is really irrelevant and in fact is probably hurting you if anything. Cars that old with low miles have been parked. Parked cars experience "lot rot" as all the rubber bushings and such don't get used and just deteriorate.

If you were to sell it, you "might" break even with the salvage title.
Assume you were to part it out - I doubt you could make much over $500 for any of it.

You might want to check with the impound yard for their policies. Some send you a bill if you don't pick up your car. They try to sell it off at auction and if it doesn't return their cost of storage, then you get a bill.

last i checked you don't need to have seats in your car to get it registered. you can renew your registration online. unless your state says different. getting it inspected and smogged, that's a different story.

also why not just get regular 88-91 seats just so you can drive it around?

i think it got towed because they thought it was an abandon vehicle because of the missing interior.

oh, and what state do yo live in. wanna try to buy that car at auction for cheap, so i can use it.
