Default 1991 Civic DX Code 8 Help

So Ibe recently gotten into Honda’s and I bought a 1991 civic DX I’ve driven it for about 6months now and randomly it went into limp mode and will not rev past 3k RPMs without the car stuttering and almost stalling after, I checked for codes and got code 8 (TDC Position) could anyone help me further diagnose this problem? I got the car bone stock with d15 and this problem randomly popped up out of no where and I’m not sure we’re to start.

Distributor might be failing.

Read the thread - how to fix cel code#9, it has a post with about testing your distributor for code 4, 8 and 9. Simple test with a multimeter. As stated before^ most likely will need to replace the distributor. Keep your old one for parts.

Open the distributor cap and check inside, the posts inside the cap and/or the rotor may be damaged and you may be able to hear some rattle in there with the engine running. I've seen it before, IIRC the underlying cause was some end play in the camshaft, but I was able to get by with just a new cap and rotor from the parts store not the whole distributor. When replacing, there is a screw on the rotor and you may have to crank the engine to access it.
