Default Ya, My Engine Fell Out.

Well, I'm gonna spit the whole story from da start. first off the block i got was a JDM D15B and the bracket that goes onto the block and connects its 2 long bolts into the engine mount was different. so when i bought it i took that bracket off and i put my orignal bracket off of my d16z6 block so the engine mount screws will allign up. well when i did that for some reason the other upper bolt that hold the engine mount bracket would not thread in so i only used one bolt and torqued the **** out of it.

So pretty much the drivers side engine mount was on good but the engine mount Bracket was only held to the block by one bolt and not 2 like it should had been.

well the ****ing motor fell out while driveing so i pulled over and parked it into grass and popped my hood and was like what da **** man! half the engine was laying on the ground. i look at the engine mount and it is good but the engine mount bracket came off the block.

this happen 700 feet from my house so i tried to drive it but it wont drive it just revs up in gear. i think the axcels came out.

Anyways. i wanna know when i put it back together what i can do to make both bolts go in and good?

IF they dont tow it away from where it is at then ill fix it tommarow just wanted to let yall know what happen and ask if this has happen to anyone else.

Do tighten the 1 bolt all the way. Just thread it in about half way (or less), and then put in the other bolt, then finish tightening the 1st bolt. If it still won't thread in, check the threads on the bolt and the threads in the hole. Get a tap and die set if the threads are messed up.

when i took off the first engine mount bracket both bolts were fine. but it was when i put the other bracket on i dont remember if the bracket bolts didn't align up or just didn't go in.

i should put that one back in and weld around it.

Do it right next time. Honda makes 3 different engine block brackets that mount there and 2 different engine mounts. If the mount you have doesn't work, order a new one from Autozone, there are some that aren't that expensive.

sounds like a backyard mexican swap job to me
if you got a welding machine and looking for a simple solution, then weld the bracket to the block ...if you got the money, then buy a mounting bracket that fits...if you dont want to buy anything but still want a proper solution then put the original bracket on and weld the portion of the bracket that is on the body.............................................. ....but of course this is the labor intensive method because taking the body bracket off is a .........i had to do something similar when doing a bseries 5 speed swap into an auto eg hatch to the tranny bracket

Mounts at Autozone are like $20-30 if you go with the cheaper ones.

Welding the mount to the body would be a bad idea. With all the rest being rubber, it will break or bend something.

Do it right, don't hack it up like a 16 year old trying to find a creative solution to something.

Watch out for quality with those cheaper brackets. Sometimes it's better to pay a little more but to have the peace of mind that the bracket won't brake on you next time you're 200 miles away from your home.

i think imma go ahead and put only that one bolt on really tight and put a few tack welds on the bracket itself and trade the car for da 5.0 stang. not sure yet.

I just got it home a little bit ago.

lmao @ tack weld than trade to a stang owner haha... thats awesome, but really tho... since u have it already mounted "even tho only by 1 bolt" just give ur axle a couple good thrushes and it should pop back in considering ur wheel assembly didnt come off or anything i doubt its out that far.. or i could be wrong but im just assuming it only popped out past the C-Clip on the inner shaft of the axle..

Let me know how that tack welding goes...lets see block is aluminum, bracket is steel.

Good luck with that.

Do it right or don't do it at all.

Travis, I thought you were pretty good with all the help you give on this forum, I'll have to move you down a few rungs on the ladder...

0 and ya the cv axel came right out the tranny or at least half of it did cause the rubber boot ripped. so I'm gonna pull the spindle out right now and put it back on. the passenger side one stayed in.

Haha, in the Stang trade thread, didn't you just say you got it running all nice?

And don't half *** it, then trade.
Karma will come back to get you.
