Is it worth putting money in a d16 sohc vtec motor?
I just bought a 98 Civic with the d16 sohc vtec. And im just wondering if its worth putting money inot that or doing a complete swap.My friend has the same car same motor with a Greddy t3/t4 turbo and it keeps up with my other friends h22 lude.So any tips or idea on if its worth it or not it would be helpfull.I had an RSX Type-S before this so i didnt worry much about sohc or getting beat untill I lost my licence.

Modifying cars is not an investment. You will loose your money or at least a large percentage of it. So modifying a car cannot be evaluated on the basis of return on money. How then are we to help you determine the worth of your modifications to you? We can't! Bottom line is no one can evaluate what something is WORTH to YOU. Only you can determine that.
Tips:
Write down your budget, goals, etc. From that determine realistic options for yourself. Then chose one of your options.

He speaks the truth.
To me it's worth it. Why spend 2 grand to swap and make 160hp when I can make nearly 200 for less than a grand? That's why I went with a turbo D.

were you street racing or something .. wheres the RSX now ..
most ppl just jump on the get a B bandwagon .. its what you want.. is a D16 worth it? .. well realize no matter what you do .. someone is always gonna be faster than you .. but my vote is boost the D ..

I live in north dakota not many guys here have fast *** cars so my rsx was something to talk abou ttill i lost my licence street racin a vette.if your wondering why i stopped i didnt have much of a choice when there were cop cars sittin sideways infront of my and i figured hittin them goin a buck forty wasnt my best option.as far as money goes i have about 3 grand left i just bought Tenzon Passion 5's wrapped with Eagle F1's and a Type R full lip kit.My RSX is now being drove by my brother,my new goal is too keep up with that.cant do much when you have no say in giving up my baby. So i think i will turbo it any other things let me know

Exactly...
D16Z6
+
= good
Tip: dont half *** it and get it tuned and it will be plenty quick enough. It SHOULD have no trouble with an H22 lude.
and BTW, greddy doesnt have a t3/t4 kit. With a t3/t4 you should destroy an h22 lude.

I think it is worth it if there is a turbo under the hood, but it is about what you want to do with the car also...
example: SCCA , legal Drag racing, or just crusin...

Just boost it until you blow it up and then buy something else. BTW I've got a HMT style kit sitting in my garage right now. I had it on my 93 EX. It was pretty quick, destroyed my friends 95 GSX with a front mount, 20g, and 3" turbo back. I'll give you a good price if you decide to boost.

Wow...
You can beat your friends GT with a lot less than a H22 if you do it right.

That for one wouldnt be much fun,why would you keep dumpin money into a car and not race it,its like hey check it out im boosted but you wont ever hear it or see it cause im not gunna get on it,its pointless. And iv been caught once and thats only because someone told called the cops and told them we were going to do it,iv always been able to out run them.our cops drive impalas.

What did you have done to your RSX to make it as fast as you make it sound???
A RSX-S with I/H/E isn't that fast. It's quick but not as fast as you make it sound. Heck my 04 Redline with just Exhaust can beat/or be pretty much dead even with a RSX-S with I/H/E.
