windshield rock chips
Has anyone tried to fix windshield rock chips themselves? What have you used? Or do I need to go to a professional to get this done. I have like three chips all about the same size or smaller then a dime. I really want to take car of them before they crack the windshield and I need a whole new one.

Re: windshield rock chips (fivelugsteelies)
I had a friend fix some in my windshield, but I couldn't tell you what he used. I would definitely get them fixed professionally.

if you have comprehensive insurance, which most people do already have and dont realize it unless you're using liek safe auto with bare minimum, normally claims on it wont increase ur premium - double check with ur company first before filing a claim. My dad had to get a windsheild replaced and the local auto glass place had a coupon 50 bucks off deductible so it only cost him 50 bucks cash to get a whole new windsheild put in, and that was on a big *** towncar.
if the chips are small and you are lucky enough that they won't cause a failed inspection, put some clear fingernail polish on the crack and let it dry good. 80% of the time that keeps it from spidering and cracking more.
