Why is my car so slow?
A picture of my vtec solenoid, as you can see its lonely without it's wiring buddies.
A picture of my sh*t motor
A close up on my intake manifold...DAM PLAYER THAT **** GOTSTA GO!
My skinny ***** intake
My motor : d15z1 vx block with a d16z6 si head
unknown tranny
dx ecu
skinny ***** intake
small *** IM
o2 sensor not working (last owner cut off the wiring for it, dont
know why hes an idiot!)
My Problem : My sh*t is slower than a DX! When i rev past 3,000 rpm...instead of gaining power...IT LOOSES POWER! When the valves starts to open...it sounds like vtec is going to hit hard...but it just makes the same sound throughout the bandwidth and loses power. (no vtec of course )
My main problem is what is causing my motor to be slower than a dx. Is it the intake manifold? FOR SURE its the ECU...peice of sh*t! All comments are welcome...

Re: Why is my car so slow? (trooper0641)
get a p28...not sure what obd the motor is...but if obd2+ then get an obd2+ ex ecu. make sure you hooked up all the wires for vtec.. at least, put on an intake (autozone, ebay, doesnt matter, its better than that thing), you should at least feel a difference with a different ecu and intake

Re: Why is my car so slow? (pennies_hatchie)
I've heard that i have the d15b setup... (vx block with the si/ex head)
My hatch is a 92...so there is no need for wiring harness? except for my o2 sensor...since my **** is cutoff. This vtec wiring thingy for all 92 hatches is located near the shock towers? <---So if i was to look @ the shock towers...i would magically find the "vtec" wirings...? LOL (seriously)
Is the d15b setup comparable to the d16z6?
Do you THINK i should waste my time "trying" to make my motor as strong as a d15b would be? (i dont know my sh*t is SLOW!) If so...i just plan to get a y8 IM and p28 ecu....and have someone hookup my vtec for me...(since i dont know sh*t about vtec)

Re: Why is my car so slow? (BLACK99civicEX)
lol yes...it is...
yes i think i should swap in a d16z6...this peice of **** motor is WAYY too slow for the ecu and the y8 IM to make that big of a difference.
Im going to save my vx headers and port it later for my z6 turbo project....OOO YEA sounds like a plan right?

Sounds like a plan.
To answer your question:
Car is 'slow':
Wrong ECU.
Inadequate air induction.
Improper wiring.
Fix:
New I/M, Intake piping, p28 ECU, and fix the wiring...
It won't be fast, but won't be as slow as a stock civic...
I would upgrade to turbo later!

Save a swap and build that engine. You're half way there!!!
The intake manifold has to go, of course ECU. Save up for turbo and boost it! The engine has low compression stock so you should be safe at 5-6 PSI daily...
Regular manitance and cooling will give a decent amount of power...

Re: (trooper0641)
Another issue would be that to make yours a d15b (jdm) you'd have to change the pistons, also the manifold for breathing problems(its like a straw). And as others said, ecu and other misc wiring (vtec/o2) is not helping.

Re: (trooper0641)
you could buy a cheap D16Z6 block and tranny and put your head on it. would probably only run 200 at the most. get the Z6 tranny too and ull be as fast as a stock 5th gen Si.

Because you're a ******* idiot!
Heres why:[/b]
1. You have a D16 VTEC HEAD with a NON-VTEC ECU. What good is a ******* non-vtec ECU gonna do for you when you have a VTEC head. The lower profile on the D16 cam makes power to 5,000 RPM...so going beyond there is useless.
2. The VX pistons have a 7.50mm dish...with a Z6 head...your compression is probably in the 7's or 8's (stock is 9:1)...losing you at least 15-20HP or more.
3. You probably have a CX/VX tranny. They are designed for FUEL ECONOMY NOT RACING. Heres why they suck:
Shift points @7200RPM-
CX/VX Transmission:
46 - 85 - 140 - 175
DX/LX Transmission:
37 - 68 - 102 - 132
EX/Si Transmission:
35 - 60 - 91 - 126
GET A NEW TRANNY
4. You are probably using a VX intake manifold and TB...they are ultra restrictive and kill your horsepower and torque numbers.
5. You need to replace your 02 sensor...if its broken...why don't you fix it? http://www.oxygensensors.com buddy
I sure hope you didn't put together that motor, if you did, you are a true shame to D-series hybrids.

ahaha, brings me back to when i first got my VX in 94...i put a 60shot nitrous kit (wet) on my vx motor just for the hell of it, and the dam thing wouldn't blow! haha ran 9.7 in the 1/8th if i remember correctly. Anyways, swap that bitch with a quickness man...
