white smoke, power loss, no compression :(
ok this is the second motor to do this in my car, the first was a bonestock b18a1turbo and i did not tear it down to diagnos the issue, sold the motor as is shortly after. The second is a semi-built lsv-turbo.95 coupe, b18b1stock bore, weisco pistons, eagle rods, arp head and rod bolts, oem headgasket,b16a2 head, s2 valves, springs and retainers, gsr cams, perciscion 60-63 turbo, Both motors I was under full throttle, felt a instant loss of power, and whte smoke everywhere, catch can also happens to be spewing oil everywhere, but...car still runs, no ticking/knocking ect...no overheating, engine didnt stall out or shut off and it will still run after being shut off. After a compression test i was getting like 130/0/30/160 or something. didnt test compression on the ls setup. so im thinking the only thing it can be is fried rings? but i dont wana tear the head off and stuff if i dont have to...so is there anyway to be sure of the rings besides compression testing? im assuming the motor is fine internally since it still ran? ive cracked sleeves and pistons and stuff in other motors and they instantly lock up and stop running...also the black cloud of death lol. I was also wondering if possibly my catch can setup is inadeqaute? could to much crankcase pressure have something to do with my issue? thx all help is apprecaited

well if i knew for sure the rings were the problem i could replace w/o taking the head off, aside from that i would like to know whats causing it, suspicios after 2 motors do the same thing. the only thing i can think of is a catch can issue. ive always been a lil sceptical of how its hooked up and after reading more about vacuum in the crankcase and such i know nothing about. i have my can setup with 2 hoses coming off the back of the block with the added barbed prelude fittings or whatever everybody uses, freeze plug in the hole where the big black factory canister is, then a drain hose off the bottom of the can t'd into one of the other hoses. dont know if its right or not but i researched on here as best as i could when i built it and did what i had seen others doing with theres.

pretty much ruled out the headgasket after no overheating, no spewing with the radiotor cap off, no oil in coolant,

I think White smoke coming from your exhaust can be a blown turbo.
I'm not sure though, i know this can be the case with diesel cars but, i dont know much about honda's yet.

i think its a head gasket. on the cyl you got a 0psi is where it blew. if your rings were fried you should have a lil comp but since you got a 0 reading then air is just getting out and since your still running a oem head gasket is your first mistake. run a copper head gasket or something stronger. since you have new piston also they should have the new rings that came with it so they should be fine. you should be more happy that it might n ot be the rings. if you take the head off look at the block and head for cracks and look at the head stubs for stress since you might have lifted your head. if your gonna build an engine for turbo do it right the first time so you dont have to keep doing these things again since this is #2.

head lift blew the head gasket. I had this problem a few times on my turbo SOHC when I was on 22PSI. Torque the head down more, or if you keep doing it, then take the head and have it machined as it may be warped. You also need to check your tune, as you might be detonating.
You can have a blown headgasket and have the simptoms you are having. It happened to me, you have a literal hole in your gasket. Stop posting on the forums and pull it apart already, its blown.

I'm pretty sure you can't. I know for sure you can't on a D-series because I tried, after the bottom of the cylinder it narrows and piston doesn't fit, it needs to come out through the top.

I am pretty sure its the same with all of them. I dont know why this guy doesnt just take the damn head off and fix the car.

headgasket is my bet you could have a leak between cylinders a leak is not always visable. either way you will be bulling the head NBD.

thx for the info guys and yes i would much rather it be the gasket...as far as not pulling the head off, i have actually always pulled mine off first thing when something goes wrong but have been hearing alot about guys doing it from underneath so thought i might give it a try...after hearing nothing good about it in this thread i will refrain and do it tyhe way i have in the past...as for the gasket i was under the impression oem gaskets were pretty stout but apperantly not. any suggestions on a good one that wont blow? ive always used oem or cometic or felpro lol...

just saw the pistons melted, that would be a lean condition, lean is almost always the cause of melted parts

thats what i was thinking as well just curious to know how it happened...boost didnt spike i dont think, wideband looked fine when it happened, timing was fine...failed injectors possibly?

um...it was tuned slapnut...no...the car was not running lean...something failed causing it to run lean momentarily
