Default white smoke

today i swapped out my z6 intake mani for a skunk2 pro series....me being dumb when i took off the old intake mani, there was some of the gasket resedue left on the side where the cooland runs to the engine....i did not clean it off and stuck on the new gasket....put everything back together and the car ran like ****....it was blowing alot of white smoke out of the muffler and never stopped....i took it apart agian and cleaned the gasket area, put everything back together and ran fine....

the prob: when i drive at higher rpms white smoke comes out and i mean comes out!!! i believe some antifreeze got into the head and the cylinders, any way of making this white smoke stoppp!!!!

You either

1.) Routed the coolant lines wrong, and are pouring coolant into your motor, or..

2.) Headgasket is blown, and coolant is burning off into the cylinders

Edit: You might want to get on this soon, coolant tends to wreck internals. (coolant in your oil.. not good)

To get it out, being that there may be small traces left, i would go ahead and say its ok to run the motor and just burn it out of the system. If the problem still persists in a day or two, then you may have a broken headgasket on your hands.

All you did was open the motor up and get water (coolant) in there. It'll fine after a day or so depending how much you drive it. Then the car will be fine. My cars and trucks have done the same thing every time i open the motors up.

SWEETTT!!! thanks guys....i ran my car for a long time and now there is no white smoke....i was afraid that it would not burn out considering that it is antifreeze....

but now when i stomp on it and when it hits 4000 rpms....it makes a clinking noise coming right underneath where my feet are? have no idea, anybody would know?

All you did? Have you ever heard of hydrolock. Its not just a little problem to brush off. It doesnt take much liquid to kill a motor whether its hydrolock or washing out the rings.

i actually found out what that noise was....it is my timing belt....it seems to be flopping around....when i changed my water pump, i didn't change my timing belt....could that be the problem, i know i tightened the tensoner and all the other things, but the belt is still loose, is one side supposed to be tight and the other side a little bit of play?

i've never left the cylinders full of water. wipe out the majority of it the best you can. it'll still smoke when you put it back together but it's not gonna hydrolock a motor.

as long as the tensioner is good, then i wouldn't worry about the tension that is on the belt (unless the belt is old), make sure that its not touching the timing cover
