Everyone was telling me that the correct size was 6 1/2, but i never could get them to come even close to fitting. I had to get some special cerwin vega low profile 5 1/4 speakers to fit in the speaker well.

hmmm...then why do my 5.25's fit exactly with no extra space?
i'm really starting to wonder if i didn't end up with a damn canadian EX with a d16y8 swapped into it... friggin everything is different on this car. Even the wires on the harness for my stereo were using different colors...

Re: (AznRexBoi00)
i install for a living.
cut out the plastic back if your speaker is too deep.
use 6.5"
we make oversized JL Audio 6.5's (almost 7) fit all day long, no problems.
ALL civics use 6.5 in the door no sweat, except for 2001+ you need to drill out the rivets and build custom plates. still use 6.5's though

Re: (spyder)
If you are driving a coupe they are all made in Ohio. The speaker sizes don't change. Also hatches and sedan i believe are all made in Ontario, Canada. They don't change speaker sizes for different models. It would get too expensive for honda.
Also 6.5 fit nicely in mine with a little bit of trimming.
