I would NOT recommend the PIAA Super Plasmas...they look nice, but only lasted about 8 months on my car....not so great for 80 dollars. (Good thing I got mine from a friend for about 5)

"30%" type bulbs that are marketed by the major companies like GE, Osram-Sylvania, and Philips. They are cheap and readily available at WalMart, KMart, Autozone, etc.

Add some OEM foglights to finish the mix.

My piaa bulbs were bright for about 3 months then they became dim. I replaced them with NEW oem bulbs and they were alot brighter. Try sylvania silverstars if you want some thing brighter than oem.

No regrets with my H4 Piaa Super Plasma GTs. A lot better than my brothers H4 Sylvania Silverstars.

I'm waiting for an H4 HyLow 4300k Kit.

Better in terms of what? Color? Are those PIAAs stock wattage? I'm just surprised considering that the Super Plasma stock wattage H4s (Super Plasma, GT, and GTX) are the worst bulbs in terms of lumens output I've ever driven on. Terrible light output, especially in the rain and on blacktop.

I don't know all the specifics on the bulbs, but I can see a lot more than brand new stock H4's I had before I put the Super Plasmas in. Also, Side by Side with my brother's car (98ek - me = 97ek), we both agreed mine was brighter. This was also after aiming both of them and installing both of them on the same night.

Just like I said, this is all from my personal experience. It is different for everyone. I am not putting down Silverstars, but I like my Super Plasma's more. Especially after 2 years worry free.

I'm really curious about your experience...I don't know whether the higher Kelvin rating is "tricking" the eyes into perceiving brightness, or if you have a higher wattage SP GT. Got pics?

No pics with them on, but maybe they are tricking my eyes to look brighter, or maybe I got a crazy set of bulbs, becuase my friends 9006 SP GTs are no way as bright as mine. I have no idea.

I don't really care about specs on my bulbs becuase I really want HIDs. Hahah. But I applaud your perserverence to comprehend my experience with the bulbs. I'm like that as well, just not with bulbs.

Goodnight.

Some up-and-coming technology that may replace HID in the near future are LED headlights. Light output on LEDs has been exponentially increasing over the past 10 to 20 years as cost has been dropping. As soon as researchers can make the beam coverage just right, they should be commonplace.

The combination of a generally inexpensive component that runs fairly cool, last for years and years and draws very little current sounds very promising.

If he can't see well and he goes into an area he doesn't know, HID would greatly help his vision which would allow him to swirve/stop earlier than if he didn't have them. Which would avoid an accident. Why do you think more luxury vehicles use HID's? To help those old folks see better

edit: I was talking about upgraded brakes not stock
