Re: What Brand Plugs? (robertwray)
Depends on what u want. The normal joe smoe who never changes plugs and doesnt really care about performance then I would say NGK platinums. The reason is that platinums have alot better wear properties than copper. The downside is that platinums are not as good as conductor and theoretically do not produce as strong as flame kernal thus theoretically not making as much power. Not to mention the price of platinums is very expensive. Copper on the other hand is a better conductor, and is cheap. The problem is that they dont last as long, but at 99 cents a plug who cares? Iridium plugs for stock, or mildly aspirated engines is just a plain waste of money. For boosted, or nitroused engines it maybe worth it and may see gains. The advantages to iridium is that it has better wear properties than platinum, and is a better conductor than copper. The disadvantages is obviously the price.
I personally change my plugs every 10-20K anyways so the wear advantages of platinum would be wasted on me. Like I said the iridiums are just a waste of money on my n/a engine.
As far as my experiece goes with plugs I have used and tried all different types. Ranging form Splitfires, AC Delco Rapid Fires, NGK V-powers, Autolites, Champions, Bosch Platinum 4's, ect...
What I can tell u is that I would go with no other plugs besides the Champion coppers, or any style of NGK's. These are by far the best plugs I have ever found.
