water froze in block?
Recently I had an anti-freeze leak and put water in as a temporary fix until I could get back home from school. When this happened it was still at a decent temperature outside and I figured the mix of water and anti-freeze would last me, but in the last two weeks it got a lot colder really fast. The fluid in my rad wasn't frozen and the freeze plugs were still in but the motor won't start. If by chance the water was frozen and then melted again what could've happened that would prevent it from starting? Any input would be really helpful guys.

Re: water froze in block?
When I was trying to start it everything sounded normal at first(like it wanted to start) and then it started to sound a little different, almost like it was cranking but not turning over. After that I checked under the hood and it smelled like something was starting to burn up a little bit but I didn't see anything noticeable.
For the timing, I don't have any tools with me to pull anything apart :/

put the car in the garage w a heater flush the coolant n put fresh 50/50 coolant mix if it still makes a weird noise or smells funny take it to a mechanic because its gonna be hard to figure out your problem through the web.

Re: water froze in block?
I would if I was home, but I'm away at school and there's no place to do any of that. I know its gonna be hard to figure this out online but im looking into every possible option to prevent it from getting any worse.

time for a kerosene heater pointed at the radiator. Thaw it, I busted the water pump on mine 10 years ago learned my lesson but the motor was all ok. It just snapped the fins off the water pump. but you may have jumped timing if it sounds different do yourself a favor and don't crank it until you can check mechanical timing you could end up crushing valves

If killing your water pump was all you did by freezing water in your block, then you're lucky. In an aluminum engine especially, ice in the block could cause some unintentional umm... ventilation.
