unplugged 02 sensor???
i was wondeirng if it ok to leave the o2 sensor connected to the catback unplugged??
situation- i want to get a dc sports header to for my civic hx (d16y5) but the dc header only has one o2 sensor bung not two like the hx header which has two because of the catalytic converter built-in the header.
so bottomline, aftermarket header has one o2 sensor bung, d16y5 has two 02 sensor. can one of the o2 sensor left unplugged???

I'm assuming your car is OBD2, since it has 2 O2 sensors?
If it is OBD2, you can leave the rear O2 sensor out, but you'll get a CEL.
Go here to buy an emulator to eliminate the rear O2 sensor: http://www.casperselectronics.com
If it's OBD1, with just 1 O2 sensor, you must have it connected and plugged in... You will get a CEL, and shitty mileage/rich condition, due to no closed loop operation...

Or you can go to a muffler shop and get them to drill a bunghole in the end of the header or beginning of cat-back.
That's what i am doing because i have 2 sensors and one hole. Atleast that's the advice i got on this board.

i wonder if you could just splice the wire from the first sensor into the wire to the second one to trick the computer into thinking the second one is working fine.
as long as its getting a proper voltage from the sensor it should work i think. but i really have no idea what i'm talking about

I don't think this would work for one reason. It would probobally work for the heater, but not for the actual imput. The secondary is looking for a different value than the primary (checked for the intergrity of the cat).

DC Sports sells them. I bought one a long time ago.
In reply to the guy that got 22miles a tank with no o2 sensors.
I got 30mpg with no O2 sensors. B16 in Hx. Running P72(GSR) ecu.

Nope. Same sensors, but one has a male connector and one has a female connector. Contact DC sports for the extender or you could just make one...it's only 4 wires.
