unpleasant driving
well i slapped on some lowering springs a few months ago only to recently learn taht my rear shocks or struts were bent out of shape. i think it was then double wrapped/covered[??] just to keep it somewhat noise free until i upgrade to coilovers. now the thing is, my car feels alot tighter now and whenever i go over a pothole/lump etc, it tosses my car all over the place. sometimes i feel like im going to slide over to the next lane because itfeels that my rear wheels have no traction.
anyways, any idea what it could be or how i would fix this. any of you exp the same and is it dangerous?

coil overs wont help u
they are very stiff if u get some cheap crap
better off upgrading hte struts even if u have to do the rear first then save up for the fronts

hmm..bu the thing is most of the things on my car is rusted etc cause theyve been in snow etc. is that another good reason to upgrade? shocks may break again anyways might as well spend the money at the right place the first time right?

Re: (kX)
If your shocks are junk then putting coilovers on blown shocks won't improve your ride quality. First thing to do is get new shocks. I don't know about aftermarket shocks, but I'm sure you can ride at stock height (I'm assuming that's where you're at now) until you buy coilovers.
If your car is throwing itself around because of bad shocks I would definately replace them as soon as I could. Spend the few hundred for new shocks, or you could hit a pothole and throw yourself into another lane, causing you to hit someone. Up goes your insurance, not to mention down time getting any body damage fixed.

Re: (kX)
What you did: Put lowering springs on stock shocks thinking it would make your car bad *** and all that it did was blow the shocks.
What you need to do: Upgrade the shocks, you can't afford coilovers right now. How do I know? Becasue if you could you would have done that to begin with.

whats the cheapest [good pair of shocks?]</TD></TR></TABLE>
How much of a drop are you running? I'm at 1.5/2" w/ TEIN S Tech on stock shocks w/ no problems.
Cheapest good pair (for 2" or less of a drop) would probably be stock shocks. Only real shocks I know of are Koni. But they're around $750 a set.
BTW, what type of car do you have? I have a set of shocks/springs from a 95 civic coupe.

Yes. I think blown shocks are your biggest problem. You could put your lowering springs on the new shocks, then take them off and replace them with coilovers when you get the money (GC's are like $300). Then rims, if that's what you want.

Wow....just wow.
Okay listen, your springs are a lot stiffer now. You need better shocks that are designed for stiffer springs. Your shocks didn't get screwed up for no reason. If you buy stock shocks again you will just blow them again. You need to either get KYB AGX shocks or Koni Yellows, but they arent cheap, like $350-$550.
You've got to pay to play..........

Yes, that is what getaway is saying. You have to get upgraded shocks that are meant to be lowered.
I don't know the difference between coilovers and springs, other than the fact that coilovers are adjustable.
Either way, they both lower your car and your shocks need to be able to withstand being lowered.

the blues are the only ones that are cheaper than the agx's listed earlier, but the blues are stock replacements not designed for lowered cars. They will hold up a little longer than oem shocks, but only consider those as a temporary fix.

Koni yellow adjustables are IMO the best value out there for a lowered car, and they are not $750 a set. For $750 you can get the yellows and ground control coilovers which is a pretty good setup.

Really? For some reason I had thought the Koni Yellows were about $750 a set, plus another $300 for GC Coilovers.
You may also look into Omni stuff. I've never read over any of their stuff, but I keep seeing ads for them. There's a wholesale dealer from the DC/VA/MD area on HT.

google search, first one I found. $750 for the package, $790 with custom spring rates.

you can do stock shocks or cheaper shocks if you want. You just need to know up front that it is only a matter of time before they blow too. The koni or agx adjustables are the permanent fix, although they are more expensive.

check the H-T classifieds if you are going that route. New from honda is $87 ea. You can get tokico blues for about that price on ebay.
