Turbo D Finally Died
So I was driving home from downtown philla. this weekend and my car finally took a **** on me.
My inline fuel pump shorted out causing me to go lean. So now I am geting a good amount of oil comming out of the breather cover and the head gasket is toast. It's also running on 3 cylinders. My **** sounds like a subaru
What do you guys think, Rebuild it? Is it worth it? I'm really sick of having to fix something every day on this car. I'm thinking of selling it in its current condition so I can buy a WRX. All I'm looking for is some opinions. Thanks
BTW: My car
d16y7 stock internals
57t t3/t4@7psi
12:1 FMU
R.I.P.

Grab a big gun, aim at vehicle, shoot until feeling of uforia overcomes you. Then buy that subaru if thats the car you want.
Sell it as is, it's still worth money.

Re: Turbo D Finally Died (Bcuz)
Rebuild it with beefed up internals to lower the compression. You'll be happier then spending a ton of money on a WRX. You had your fun with your car sounding like one... now rebuild that biatch!
EDIT: BTW clean looking Coupe

Re: Turbo D Finally Died (Civic4less)
i'd say rebuild it bro, the D has some potential. i just turbocharged my d16y7 sedan as well late last week and im dyno tuning it tomorrow on stock internals and at 7psi on a GReddy TD04H 15g turbo. good luck, n ur car still looks good just minor stusff happened thats why ur motor shitted on u especially that high *** compression. btw how did the inline fuel pump shorted on u bro? b/c i have an inline walbro fuel pump in my car as well.

The gounding wire fell off the grounding screw. Dont know how, it was on there really good too.
I'd love to rebuild but I'm in high school and need a reliable car again The turbo D is not the most reliable car.

Buy another car. The Honda is a money pit, I'm about to sell all my parts that I havent even put on the car yet, and buy a bike this fall and with a stock vehicle be able to run 11-12's or faster in the quarter should I so choose.

get another stock engine (cheap) or if you got a little dough rebuild it(you must have some $$$ to buy wrx), keep turbo parts and ditch the FMU, get uberdata or CROME.

What do you have to fix daily? I wouldn't give up on the car that fast.

Re: (CivicMike)
D series are cheap... get a d16z6, for 400$
Then ---> obd1 conversion with uberdata
Then ---> GET IT TUNE ON A DYNO/WIDEBAND
Then its gonna be reliable and more powerfull, all with a stock engine...

Re: (CivicMike)
Really it all comes down to realiability. I NEED something realiable. How realiable can this thing really be? I would love to keep it and drive another car but I dont have the $$$ for that.
Also what do you think this thing is worth(ballpark figure)3,000$??????

sorry to say but thats what happens when you run an ssac setup "by looking at the mani" and not spending the money on good managment.

if you invest $25K into a wrx you would be wasting money..you could probably do an AWD conversion for less than that just get a used d16 with decent compression, boost it on uberdata and youll have a reliable car for <$2K.

Re: (CivicMike)
Get it tuned correctley and you should have a reliable car. You can't just slap on a turbo and go! and expect to be reliable

The ONLY items used that are from ssautochrome are the manifold and the turbo. BOTH HAVE WORKED FLAWLESSLY!!! I got them both free as a gift that why I used them. And if you dont have any usefull info to contribute STFU. and I was planning on getting a tune but i'm in school so its hard to find the time. I live about 100miles from the nearest tuner

Re: Turbo D Finally Died (TurboTagTeam)
The problem that caused the engine failure had nothing to do with a bad/no tuning, it was caused by a lean condition caused by a loose wire. Even with the best tune, the motor was gonna get fried anyways.

Yeah. It seems the only thing that was unreliable was that grounding wire falling off. Not the car's fault.

Re: Turbo D Finally Died (TurboTagTeam)
it would be reliable if you used quailty parts. you know you cant drive a WRX like a honda because it will brake down and the parts arent cheap eather
