Default Trouble starting my civic

Hi

I have a '92 civic si that is difficult to start. Usually I have to crank atleast 2 times to start it up (with grinding noise every time). Other times it just are grinding and nothing more happens. So when I use my car I usually park so I can roll and start that way. There is nothing wrong when the engine is running.

I can add that I have changed the starter earlier because the teeth was damaged, but nothing changed with the new starter. I have removed the starter and tested it, and it appears to work fine. One theory I have is that the teeth on flywheel are slightly damaged (difficult to spot without removing the gearbox) but is that even likely? I have always believed that the metal used on flywheel are much harder than the starter.

I have actually bought a used flywheel in good shape, but is there any point removing the gearbox to inspect at all?

I hope that someone in here can shed some light on my problem, in advance thanks..

Look through the starter hole to inspect the flywheel.

Yeah, I have tried. I Should probably use a mirror to take a closer look though. At first glance it looked like there was some tear, but when I realized that the flywheel are made with a angle at each teeth, I am wondering if it is just that I saw...

Might b best to take the tranny off and check inside to make sure none of the starter pieces is broken inside the tranny.

It was pretty obvious what the problem is, when I compared it to another used flywheel...
