Default throwout bearing question

The throwout bearing is connected to the shift fork using tabs to secure it. If those tabs are not engaged (aka fell off the tabs upon installation of the transmission), will it cause a clutch/pressure plate to not work properly?

Yes, Are you sure you originally knew how to put it on?.. I really don't see it falling off upon installation of a tranny..

Thank you for the response

well not to fall of the input shaft, but simply off the tabs. When i was putting my tranny on, we wiggled it on and i didnt put the rubber cap that goes over the fork. It moved the fork to the point where it'd fall off the tabs.

Who in the hell use's those rubber boot's? I been meaning to put mine back on for the last three times, but it's fine without it.

Have you finished the tranny install?

If the clutch is engaging and disengaging properly then you have no problems

thanks for the help Jimmy,

the tranny is back on, took 5 hours to match it up to the motor. I cannot say if the clutch is engaging properly or not...The slave moves, but the pedal pressure is soft. I remember when i was putting everything together, that the first time i pressed that pedal, it was stiff. Then i went on to put everything back on (starter, brace bar etc) and it was soft.

I've been trying to peek inside that hole and see if the bearing tabs are on but i can't see ****...i need a little mirror or something. So aggravating......

I know what it's like those first couple of times trying to get it to lined up.. Pain in the ***.. After a couple time's it just slide in like butter (depending on who's helpin you)

Are you driving the car? If so and it's going into gear properly and shifting fine you should be fine..

no thats the thing, gears will not go in at all. Feels like im forcing the syncros, as if i was powershifting. Car has not moved from where i did the clutch install, too afraid to mess it up more.

My theory was that the throwout bearing came off the fork and its making it operate incorrectly. I have not had time to check everything out since im a college student and im in the middle of my mid-term exam week. Im just trying to figure out what to check because i installed everything in right....just doesnt make sense.
