Re: syncrotech carbon syncros vs oem
I got a reman tranny from Synchro-Tech for my 2000SH Prelude. Dave threw in the carbon synchros for the same price as oem ones. I also had him install a P2A8 Accord 5th gear too in it for no extra $.

Yeah that is the kind of top notch service and quality I regularly see people mention when talking about Synchro-Tech.

You don't need to take the bracket/seal holder off. Just pull the seal. Easiest way is to drill a small hole in the old seal. screw a wood screw in and then pry it out with a bar or even a pair of pliers.

The fight I had getting my old cam seal out was just disturbing and I was determined not to have to take apart the rocker arm assembly.
Thank you. This will be helpful as I tend to use flange sealant on the outside edge of these oil seals just like I noticed my Honda Tech does. Makes getting them out more challenging and your trick may just well be the easiest solution.

What was I wrong about?
Here's a good method to remove the oil seal.

Ideally with the proper size seal driver.
I have a nice small chunk of wood that split off a small piece of 2x4 that I tend to use to tap in the seals with.
I've heard of people using sockets.
On my transmission, I used a beat up plastic flashlight as the circumference was perfect for one of the axle seals.
Really though, it's supposed to be a seal driver. You can get a kit for 60 bucks or less on amazon.com
However those ones don't work well with the crank or cam in place.
This kit is used for install, removal with crank and cam in place:

You may be able to get the seal flush using hands and a flat-sided piece of wood in combination, if you grease the outer edge of the seal.
