The beauty of thermal wrap- and you can get intake temps- and manifold temps down if your feeding it true cold air- not saying it will be a freakin miracle in power...but look at some roadrace cars...making a ton of heat but they find very good ways to dispense it away from vital parts. Brakes, intake ducts, ect...I still use a stock air box on my girls gsr, and feed true cold air to it- wrapped the larger intake pipe and also the header...hot air tranfers out of the engine bay as it should and the colder intake air stays cooler- there for cooling the temp inside the manifold- colder air=denser air= more power cooling your fuel can help aswell- more of a pain in the *** tho lol

don't scrap it. set it aside until you decide to turbocharge your vehicle. i almost said mail it to me so i don't have to buy one when i install a turbo but the chances that your intercooler has a CARB number are thin to none and i live in california where every cop on the road wants to impound your car once a week to fine-tooth-comb your engine compartment for anything non-smog legal or anything you don't have a receipt for (to prove it isnt stolen)

ill gladly take it off your hands

Sucking cool air into a hot intake plenum is better than hot air into a hot plenum. With how much gets sucked in, hopefully it doesn't all get warmed up to the same temperature.
If you're concerned about IATs, get a sheet of Teflon and make an insulating gasket and reroute your coolant lines or something. Also, strap a sack of dry ice to the intake manifold.
The stock air box is quietter and the engine is tuned for it, a CAI is louder generally and the engine wasn't tuned for it. Without tuning the ECU and putting the car on a dyno, I would refrain from making a decision about throttle response simply based on your ears or butt dyno.

Lol at the guy with brown sheets. Sure you're not talking about shitting the bed instead of sweating?
I run standard airbox with an uprated panel filter on all my cars with standard ecu. Planning on running a CAI on my new one but that will be getting a remap
