SRS Light

SRS Light
Long story short my friend civic was stolen and they took the steering wheel, airbag and broke off the ignition. Went to the junkyard grabbed a steering column from a Auto 96/97(cant remember which) his is a 98 5spd. Was able to swap everything except the airbag system. The wiring is colored different within the spring clock but i figured i could reset the SRS light but still nothing. Are these airbags model, year, transmission specific??? How do i get it to work?
His stock one looks like this (borrowing this pic from Siboosted hope you don't mind)

Re: SRS Light
Yes, but let's step back.
Are you saying that there's no airbag installed? If so, the SRS light will stay on because the SRS computer sees this and throws an SRS code.
Can you be more specific here and post pictures pointing out what is different?
Also, the below diagrams describe how a proper cable reel installations is done:

Ill get better pictures later when I'm near the car, but everything is plugged in, including air bag. The wiring off the cable reel is colored differently. Off the donor car the wiring is all black while on the recipient car it's colored like in my first attached picture.

Whelp unknown to me the steering columns are different smh, I'm assuming that its shorter to clear the clutch/brake assembly. So in the end ill still have to drill out the old ignition off the shaft (OEM has rivets) and see if I'm able to do the same from the donor shaft and tap it to accept bolts so that I can reuse it. If not we'll have to order the complete set to change all cylinders. Then for the airbag Ill swap the SRS ribbon and that should fix my problem..... Ill keep you guys updated

Re: SRS Light
Final update I was able to remove the old ignition part ( used a hammer and chisel )then swapped out the cylinder for his original one which luckily wasn't damaged. Bolted everything back together and reused his original SRS ribbon(reel) and reset the light. Test drove it and everything is good except ill have to take off the steering wheel to align it properly but that nothing. Thanks RonJ@HT for the info
