Default SoCal Rain + Bald Tires = :(

Tires locked up around a turn, launched me onto this rock/dirt mound.
Bent a whole bunch of **** up.
Front bumper, fog lights, and lip are completely destroyed...

Now, OEM Bumper, Pretty New foggys, and OEM Lip. Yummy.
Also know a guy who does some legit frame straightening for cheap.

My dad just hydroplaned his truck into a wall, I feel your pain. Except the truck is totaled.

Hope things work out for you.

Judging from the photos I would say no. In socal, it rarely rains. The oils from the exhaust fumes rise to the surface of the water and the roadways become slicker than ice...

That and since it hardly rains people ride around on super bald tires until cords show and THEN buy new ones. In most other states these "bald tire - car off road" pics would happen more but people tend to wise up eventually.

Serg - who has driven on bald tires in SoCal and who has experienced crazy downpours in Mississippi and MD and has wised up.

Kinda spoiled in SoCal when it comes to tires

yeah, i was planning on getting new tires next, then socal's biggest storm decided to show up. lol
i've driven on this road in rain, hard rain, like 5 times with bald tires, but i drive the road everyday. just this turn and my brakes caught me by suprise.
and no, i wasnt going fast. probably about 20-30. If i were going any faster i would've jumped that bank into the flowing stream/washbed below.

What gets me here in NC. It will be pouring down rain hard as hell. Roads will be covered with running water, I'm in an EJ1, it hydroplanes easy, I guess cause its fairly light, most Civic owners know this..but what gets me is those SUV drivers that ride my *** cause I have backed down the speed and they get pissed, I guess they have NO idea how easy our cars hydro plane.

What gets me is that people will pay top dollar for most mods, but cheap out on the tires.

i meant that your car would look nice if it was lowered but everyone has their own preference.

What i like about that older azenis when they stopped making them 3 years ago i think is that it had a thicker side wall lining and the design just made the tires look beefier. im not putting poor judgment on the new series though.

all you guys driving around with bald tires. let this be a lesson learned.

my brother found out the hard way also, did 360's down the freeway at 75mph, luckily someone from up in the skies was with him

i'll buy used tires with some tread or even offbrand new tires before i'll drive with bald ones

slicks are meant for the track, not the street

sorry to see it happen to you

X2! Tires are to important to skimp on. Plus really good tires that grip well is fun through corners even if the engine under the hood isn't putting out much.

I remember when I bought my hatch. I paid the guy like $450 for it, then I went to wheel works and slapped these on:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....+Pole+Position

just for the DD duties of the hatch. I LOVE these tires. If and when I go to the track, I'll have different set(wheel/tire) for that.

sticky doesn't do anything for wet or icy roads. run a good allseason performance tire. i love my falken ziex 512's

the only thing i dont like about falken ziex, is they have a low tread ware, and my tires ware out fast. :/
on another note, this is the third time i've gotten in an accident due to tires locking up. the first two, i had almost brand new tires on both.

If you go with an all season tire, choose something from the top 6 and you're good to go.
