Who really knows?
The only one I know for sure, is the SI which stands for (now obsolete) Sport Injection.

It's Theif-Ready
I don't think the civic names have much meaning, since even an 'excitement xperimental' isn't exciting stock, and 'luxury xperimental' is far from luxurious.

GS is the 98-01 Version of the 94-97 Version of the SE, its pretty much a GSR minus the motor, or an LS with leather and the wheels.

Re: so what does ,ex,dx,cx,hx,vx,rs,ls,gsr,gs means ? (EGSR)
They are simply trim levels that represent the features included in the car. The letter themselves probably don't have any meaning to us as consumers but rather some kind of coding system for the manufacturer. It's similar to the way the engine stamps translate to series/liters/model (b18c1 = b - series/18 - 1.8 liters/c1 - GSR). People seem to look too deep into this. I know there are meanings to some of them for example SE 9 times out of 10 means Special Edition but most of it is just coding. If LX meant luxury anything what the hell does the X stand for?! And don't you think that the car companies would make a reference to it's meaning in the brochures for the vehicles. I don't think they are trying to make it all about mystery and intrigue. It's like a badge of honor. If you buzz by someone driving a DX in your EX with your vtec engine and power features and sunroof it lets others know you bought a more expensive car. That's a really trivial way to explain it but why do people who are rich buy 7-series BMW's and Bentley's, Ferrari's, Lambo's, etc... It represents success and status.
