Default snotty textured oil

Opened my oil cap today and saw a snotty texture, I know a blown headgasket will cause a milky texture, but will it also make its characteristic snotty?

Are you losing coolant?

Is there also oil in the coolant?

dont think a bad gasket would cause that. snotty oil is common in all cars but mostly sits in the sump. give your engine an oil change and replace the oil filter. before you drain the oil get some type of engine flush and then protector after the oil change

ya check your dipstick for water in oil, could be kinda milky, check coolant for oil,or it could just be some normal water vapor buildup on oil cap,I work in a auto shop & see at least 1 car a day w/a milky/oily film on oil cap and theres nothing wrong just normal.

Hell no it is not! that stuff turns into sludge and mud if not changed at exactly 3000 miles. and is a bad formula.

I will agree that its not the best but it won't turn to sludge at 3000 miles. Trust me. I used to change oil and used PLENTY of Pennzoil. Nothin wrong with it. They own Quaker State BTW.

OP. Change the oil first and see what happens. I wouldn't use an engine flush if your motor is somewhat old/may have not had its oil regularly changed its whole life. The engine flush could break apart old sludge and buildup that have now become moving parts in the motor. Its your choice, but I would steer clear of most engine flushes.

Use Castrol GTX, Not Pennzoil.
