Short shifters do nothing more than change the Fulcrum point on the shifter rod. This does not mess up anything. What messes’ things up are the people that think that because now they have a shifter with a shorter throw to it, they don't have to push the clutch in faster to compensate for the quicker gear engagement. Also, people with short shifters tend to rack through the gears more often than with a stock shifter. Either way it only makes sense to have a shorter throw; it helps with more accurate shifts and of course helps on the track to change gears faster.

if you are going for a short shifter, save some money, grab an ebay one, then find a nice skunk2 ****. ebay ***** are lightweight, BAD. the skunk2 **** is weighted just right, GOOOD

I've tried short shifters and was never really a fan of how "notchey" they felt, I'm using an oem del sol vtec one and it works amazingly.

The skunk2 shifter is awesome but the biggest difference was made by the bushings... They are an awesome mod for the money...

On a different note I would recommend against the skunk2 **** if you live in any extreme climates... When I lived in MD in the winter it was like an ice cube and now that I live in FL it burns me...

psshh, I had a ebay ****, all metal, yeah it was cold in the winter, but it warmed up with the heat from my hand after only a few minutes

and if that still is a concern, take some fake leather and wrap it

Skunk2 is the best. Like they say. Best improvement for the cash.

A buddy cheaped out and bought a B&M. I have driven both. Skunk2 has a lot better feel.

Someone said the bushing kit is like $40.00 wow I think I paid $15.00 for the kit back in 03 or 04.

Single bend.

Up here we get the best of both worlds... sub zero in the winter and sweaty ***** in the summer. I have the skunk 2 dual bend with the weighted ****. I just made myself a little black sock that fits right over the shift ****.

In winter no ice cube in hand so once it's warm take off the "sock), in summer no burning **** cause the sock protects it from the hot sun. It was cheap and works for me.

LMAO...Mine does the same ****. I used to work out in the weather all the time so usually I had gloves..so I would just put the right glove on and it wouldn't freeze my hand or burn it. But that **** gets HOT..and COLD.

That sock trick sounds like a GOOD idea.

you can always paint it so that it isnt baremetal. or go teh extra mile and "jetcoat it" like a header. I think thats what teh sknk2 **** has on it. its not bare metal, at least the few Ive ever seen in person

Its good and make sure you get energy suspension. Shifter bushing for smoother feel.

I have a short shifter... I'm thinking its an OLD s2. And yea, it has a "notchy" feel but I cant stand the slop in a stock shifter. With the heavy S2 **** on it, it creates a nice feel. I wouldnt take it out for anything, and its not causing trans problems.

I could not stand the stock shifter feel in the civic... It is probably the worst stick shift compact car I have ever driven... The bushings and short shifter really did a lot to improve it...

i dont think anyone has said this yet but i have the stock ITR shiftlinkage, shifter and **** on mine and i love it.. the likage is thicker (stronger and heaiver) the shifter is a duel bend and it makes the throw a lot shorter and **** is heaiver.. everything togeather cost me 137.50
and from what i hear the S2 shifter is like 125.. just makes sense to use stock parts to me cause honda made them that way for a reason

thats more of a placement thing. look at your stock shifter and compare it to whatever one you wanna buy. some put it forward more, siome backwars a bit, some off to the side a lil

doesnt effect the shifting much unless it places it outta reach.
