Default Resettng the ECU

96 Civic EX

To reset the ECU, when I looked at the back up fuse it is also for the radio, is there another way to reset the ECU, not including unhooking the negative terminal on the battery? I do not want to reset the radio stations.

Unplug the ECU, I'm pretty sure the service manual advises against this, but I've done it more times than I can count and never killed an ECU yet.

I was going to suggest this but I was afraid to go against the Helm.

+1 from me I guess...

How hard is it to reset your radio stations. You know them by heart, right? Just remove the Back Up fuse for 3 or more minutes. Easy.

I have about like 24 presets, but I guess that is the route to go.

When you pull the back up fuse, should you have the key on?

Just going out on a limb here but I'd suggest not. Try it with the key not in the ignition.
