project death coupe
here is our little project. b20z vtec swap, gs-r head, the engine is mainly stock, just some minor mods. we have made about a half a dozen passes with a best of 12.18@108.7 mph with a 60' of 1.674. this car was built with nothing but spare "junk" that was laying around the shop. there is a grand total of $1300.00 invested in this car including the cost of the car itself. it weighs in at 1610 lbs with the drivetrain. i think we can break into the 11's with a bit more tweaking of the tire pressure if we can knock the 60' down to 1.55 or so. check back frequently for updates. thanks for lookin!

is it just me or would the hatch be much closer to the 11's if it was gutted the same way?

Righteous build
But someone needs a rollcage i thinks ...I know, I know it's more wieght but anything under 12sec even should have a roll cage in my book
Goodluck on better times

Re: project death coupe (bigblokcivic)
Nice times. At first I was thinking "Only low 12s in a 1600lbs car w/ B20VTEC?"
Then I realized there was no turbo.
Good times.
Any more info on the build itself?

how? this is a technical forum for 92-00 civics...
Not a 'check out my racecar forum'. Unless he gets into the technical aspect of the car or asks a technical question this belongs in the A&C forum.
to the OP: bad-*** build
'junk' cars are always my favorite... alot to be said about making something out of nothing

sorry about the placement of this thread. i thought "model specific forums - 92-00 civic/ delsol" was an approiate place for this. apparently not. if the moderator wants to move it, please do. we think the motor is making about 220 hp, but thats just a guess. we havn't had it dyno'd. there was no type of intake/filter on the car when the 12.18 pass was made. weare actually going to make somthing tonight so its not just sucking hot air off of the motor. we also have a set of valves and springs, crower stage 4 cams and weisco 14:1 pistons sitting there for it. what we are doing is running it, making a change or two, running it, making a change or two, ect... basically to see how the different parts installed effect the car and e.t. we started out with a best pass of 12.40 then added a locked spool for the trans and a two step rev limiter. we played with the launch rpm pill and tire pressure for a few passes and then ran out of time. if it goes 11.99 or quicker we will have to add a cage. we figure the cage will weigh about 100 lbs so right now we are looking for more weight to get out of it. once the cage is installed we can really go nuts cutting on the back of the car. we did not cut much out of the back as to not weaken the structure of the car. the trunk is just an outer skin though that is bolted to the car.

Re: (bigblokcivic)
I don't know how much you guys are looking to put into this car, but to pull off more weight you could replace the glass with lexan.
I couldn't really tell from the pics, but have you guys pulled out the sunroof and patched it up yet?
I can't find the post, but a looooooong time ago someone had done some dyno runs w/ different intakes as far as CAI, short ram, and filter directly on the TB and they found that by running no tube what-so-ever they made the least power. The person said it's probably as a result of the turbulent/low velocity air entering the intake manifold as opposed to how hot the air is.
Good luck. Should only be a matter of time before you guys take it into the 11s.
-Nick
BTW- Whad did you guys use for tuning?
