I have a 1997 Honda Civic 1.5VTEC, i can get 119Mph outa 4th gear redline, However when i change into 5th it slows right down, Nor do i have much power in 5th gear. It feels restricted, Please could anyone tell me what kind of restriction it is?, and if there is a way of deresticting it? (Sorry to post twice, but need awnser urgently) Cheers

More or less stock, i have a sport exhaust (with cat), Carbonfibre air box with KnN air filter attatched, thats it, Civic's are limited, however only in 5th gear, The gearing lets it down, my 4th Gear reds at 119Mph 7.3000 RPM. Fith gear is ****! ,Limiter has not been touched nor any other mod. Dunno if it makes a difference i have a 1.5 3-Stage Vtec,

read about it if you have questions

its called torque mulitplication. when you shift from the 1.909 gear to the .709 gear you loose torque mulitplication, so you basically have less power in that gear. blah blah blah, and never do it again.

Yeah, because they sell the "jazz" here...and that has to do with what? On a side note, I would like to buy a FIT and will probably test drive one today.
I drive an ej8, actually...and there is NO reason to go as fast as you claim to go. Its one of the most retarded things you could do. I really do hope you get caught. Enjoy the loss of licensure...at least there will be one less f*cktard on the streets

Track day, right...they close over a mile of highway for people to go as fast as they can
I dont care what track you think youre on, you would NEVER get up to 120mph.

If Im a statistical 70+ honda driver and a "****" (whatever the hell those mean) thats fine. At least Im not a dumb *** kid who thinks its cool to drive 50mph over the speed limit (or 60 over in many states). You do realize that at that speed you have nearly 0 control of your vehicle, right? You would be absolutely obliterated, if you were to crash....which perhaps is the natural course of survival of the fittest (evolution makes fools of us all).

Since your question envolves you being openly stupid and wreckless, Im allowed to be as much of a ***** as I want to be.

I swear, new members get dumber every single year. I thought many of the 04's were bad...jesus christ look at how 06 is turning out.
"I cant go any faster than 120mph...whats wrong!?"

i believe your problem is just your gearing. there isnt much you can do about that. in order to go faster you gonna have to upgrade. either motor swap or boost...

I think that if this guy would have said "120 on track" it would have sounded alot less childish.

And to the thread starter, don't get angry when you post something where you make yourself sound like a 16 year old kid who just a cool civic and wants to see how fast he can go everywhere.

And OT but why can't the people that created the freaking English language seem to ever use it correctly?

NJ TROOPERS ARE THE REAL *** TARDS

your age: 19
pdiggity's age: 22

yup, you have been driving much longer.

If you are so awesome at cars, why do you need a honda forum to tell how to go faster than 120?
Not to mention, why are still "tracking" a 1.5l oh so awesome one?

Id love to see the sheer size of this track to let a civic get up to 120mph. You realize it would have to be huge in order to get up to that speed and have the widest sloped turns this side of Gran Turismo.
And what the hell does a mercedes have to do with anything?

I sincerely doubt youve been driving longer than I have, since at age 8 I was driving farm tractors and at 10 manual transmission jeeps off road to haul lumber. You were probably not driving when you were 5 years old.

You really do amaze me though, in thinking that you are no threat at seemingly any speed. Like I said - 0 control at that speed. Whether you think youre a threat or not, you are a massive one.

Forget it, Ive lost all interest in arguing with you. Im done.
I told you that you were limted by gearing, and that is correct....so I did answer your question.

1997 Honda Civic 1.5VTEC... i didnt know they had 1.5's... i thought it was only 1.6liters, anyways. your not gonna go faster... lack of power/shitty gear ratios wont let you go any higher

You are from England correct? Just curious, how big are the tracks over there. I bet they have some nice ones.

Anywho, you could install a different final drive, different gears, or increase HP. You could also look into the aerodynamics of the car to reduce drag @ 120mph. Just some things to consider.

BTW- don't mind the retards posting about speeding, they get a hard-on bashing people over the internet.

EDIT: What's your chassis code?
