Default Porting Head ..does this trick work ??

Hi I read the post about porting and polishing a head
In it you said if you ruff the inlet side up afer you bore it slightly
And you port and polish the exhaust side then this will encourage atomization
and its better than porting and polishing both inlet and exhaust.

can anyone show how to do this ??
any proof !!

If I just leave the inlet side standard and port and polish the exhaust side will it make much difference ??

And what type of bur do I use
I have these cloth wheels and do I put a cutting compound on them to polish ???
Any advise please

It's no trick. Hot rodders have been doing this for years. Exhaust usually isn't critical since the main part of the exhaust flows in the middle of the port. Porting isn't for the faint of heart, either. It usually requires disassembly of some part of the head. And it usually isn't a weekend job for most people. Most DIYers will do mild porting and to correct any factory cast imperfections and port match the intake to heads and heads to exhaust. Standard Abrasives sell a kit that Eastwood carry. http://www.Eastwoodco.com Depending on the material of the head, you may not need a carbide burr, like aluminum. Sanding rolls will usually get the job done. Be careful not to go overboard because you can take away too much material. If you want to get the best out of your heads, you''re better off farming head work out for a small mint. About "roughing" the inlet, they're referring to creating a more turbulent flow of aircoming in (thus, increasing velocity and a better air/fuel mixture). And, by roughing, it usually means not polishing. HTHs.
