piecing together 93 Civic air conditioning system
My 93 Civic VX originally had air conditioning. When I swapped to a B-series I did the dumb thing and removed the a/c components in the engine bay for "lighter weight". Everything in the cabin is still there. I still have the condenser and compressor, but will most likely replace them with new pieces.
My first question is, I realize the 92-93 Civics had a different system than 94-95's. Leaving what is in the cabin alone, would I benefit from or even be able to switch to the "newer" units from the 94-95's?
Second question, is there anyone out there that sells a complete new or remanufactured a/c system for what I need (compressor, condensor, drier, hard lines, etc.)? Also what all exactly do I need? Part #'s if anyone has them would be greatly appreciated.

Nobody sells a complete kit but these are available at the junkyard ... pull it yourself. I have pulled two systems before and it cost me under $100 for the whole thing (lines, compressor, condenser, evap), but a normal price might be in the $150 range. You would benefit from a 94-95 system because then you can use a later-model 98-00 Civic evap that has a cabin filter and add this feature for your car. Check my sig for a DIY on that mod (sry, pics are down on it for now).
Also, for a B-series, get yourself a 1G CRV compressor bracket and you can bolt a D-series compressor straight up (apparently).

Get the 94/95 AC system. The stuff from 92/93 Is R12 vs R134a While R12 is better refrigerant the 134a is easier on your pocket book. One can retrofit a 12 system to take 134a, but it will NEVER cool as well as the 12, so just replace it all with 134a stuff and be happy to have AC.

Good to know. So would the compressor be the only difference between the two systems, besides the option of the cabin air filter?

^ Recommend you print out the Installation Instructions for A/C and bring them with. Makes things a whole lot easier to know which parts to remove. Search this site (with Google) to hunt down the PDF doc that you'll need. Also, bring ziploc baggies or small containers for all the bolts and brackets you need to remove.

Thanks, I also went and printed off exploded views of everything a/c related with part names & numbers. If I come up with more questions I will come back to this thread.
