Oil smells like gas.
OK I remeber someone has this problem before but that thread didn't help me cuz no one really replied. I am hoping that someone sees this and will help me. I went to check under the hood of my del sol today for ***** and giggles. My car has been sitting since December (snow). When I opened the oil filler cap and looked inside (don't ask me why) it smelled like gas. I never smelled in there before so I don't know what it should smell like but I dont think its right. Someone please help me out here. Thanks.

Yup. If you don't like the smell, don't inhale through your nose .

I've been told that gas in your oil is very bad, and it needs to be changed immediatly. I accidently crushed my MAP sensor, in return i ran extremely rich. My exhaust and oil smelled like gas. When gas mixes into the oil, it breaks it down ... losing it's lubricating characteristics. My friend said it basically turns it into water, which would do **** for keepin the parts of the engine lubed.
So, i dunno. lol

means your running rich...not enough fuel is buring in the chamber so it works its way to the oil...its not gonna kill anything, just change your oil at regular intervels and youll be ok...def get it fixed though...after a long period im sure it could damage your rings but ive never seen it happen...
