I have a problem with my car consuming oil. I spoke about it here on this board. I have a full warranty (100Gs) BTW My car is a 99Si W/50Gs on it. So it shouldnt be doing this. I took it to the dealer like 4 times and they kept givving me the runaround. So the last time I took it they told me "were gonna change your oil and drive 1000 miles (again) and come back". I said cool ill do it. So yesterday I was on my way to the movies with my GF and im on the freeway and I decide to speed up. Im at the top of third then the top of fourth the when I hit fifth and the car slow down and I hear pinging. Im like wtf I try to stomp on the gas and the rpm wont go higher than 5500 so im like. It must be in safe mode because at the same time the CEL went on . I decided not to mess with anything not even the cel. I called the dealer today and they said bring it in. OH btw I checked the oil and after 56 miles all of its gone. Damn

so if there wasn't any oil in it.. that may be the problem. You think it's possible they forgot to fill it up after they drained it? (or did you do it???)

I would guess that 56 miles is about what it'd do without oil in it.

I might leave out the part about running it all the way through the end of 4th gear, probably not the best thing.
A few other things, if they didnt put any oil in your car or you had really low oil pressure, vtec will not engage but also if you had really low oil level/pressure the little oil light on the dash should have gone on. If they honestly put oil, i dont see how it can "consume" 4 quarts of oil in 56 miles.....But let us know what the dealer says.

*edit* also just because the dipstick doesnt show oil doesnt mean there isnt any in your car, its just to low to hit the dipstick (which still isnt good just wanted to add that)

if its under warrenty and ur dealer wont do anything take it to another dealer Honda warrenty is valid at any Honda dealer tell them u want that ***** fixed

You actually think that Id actually let my car run with no oil in it. bro I checked my oil at every stop and my vtec was working because I had barely slapped on my CAI and my Vtec was ******* screaming. I already spoke to the dealer and I could of took it in today but it will make it easier on me if I took it on Monday since they have that van that takes me to work. Speaking of VTEC thats how I found out that my car was ******* up because it stopped working.

unless it leaked out, even burning 1 quart of oil in 56 miles would create a spectacular smoke show...

No Smoke show I dont know where the **** all that oil is going. Correction there is a smoke show a big one. I reved up my engine right know and its fuging huge. It even farts at the end.

Well, I guess since your engine has already had it, it really doesn't matter a whole lot that you keep running it...hopefully you put oil back in it to start it up at least. I wonder if Honda is gonna rebuild your stock motor. Just thinking of that makes me think what a waste for them to spend all the time and money their going to have to and you end up with the same engine as you had before.

welcome to the club, I had a similar problem a few weeks ago, (leaky valve cover, cam seals, etc, etc.)going up 95 North, same thing happened to me, same slugging, same noise. Now hopefully I'll be getting my replacement in about two weeks. It sux though, cuz if I had the chance, I'd just leave the car stationary, and save up for a real swap, but I need my car so I'm just settling for a replacement motor for now.

P.S. If anyone is selling a d16z for a good price, give me a holler.

Im not gonna lie. I ran my motor like a mothafucker. VTEK 4 U was there any oil leaks in your car because there was none in my driveway period. I was ******* with my car right know and I would go to the throttle line and pull it and watch hella smoke come through the back. And at the end it farts like its backfiring. My CEL is going ******* crazy blinking and blinking and my car shakes like a ****. Im gonna put some antifreeze in it because im sort of low and dont want to be blamed for negligence. Im driving it for about ten miles on monday morning. Hopefully I dont get pulled over for **** like that but I am gonna drive below four thousand rpm and keep it cool.

just some advice that you probably already know. (i used to work at a dealership) they are going to do everything possible to get out of replacing your motor ree. JUST ACT STUPID!!! dont let them know that you are into racing or moddifying your ish or anything like that. dont wear an ACT shirt or something like that when you go to the dealer. they need to think you are a book worm basically. just trying to help because my boy got a defective motor in his 2000 GSR ( shyt was burrning like 2 qts a week!!!) the dealer replaced the rings and still the same problem. anyways when it came time for them to replace the entire motor under waranty they reflagged his car because the stock heatshield was not on the the stock exhaust manifold. (THE ONLY PIECE THAT WE DI NOT PUT BACK TO STOCK)

I had a Cai on it .. Took it off. the only thing that I have that look kinda ricey is my jdmpro.net sticker on the outside and my spoon and ctr shift boot inside (jdm not ricey) . But other than that I put my stock springs back on and it looks pretty high .

I had an oil look from under the car, yes. But your problem seems to be a little different than mines. My car didn't shake or blow smoke from behind. I'm already in the process of getting a replacement. Just waiting for next week to come. Good luck with her.
