Re: My EK Rescue Project. Shave, Tuck, Boost, In Progress(No 56k)
I have 1 small update for you:
Started the tranny tonight. Gonna get the Quaife put in, and ready to go when the car gets back from paint. To be totally honest, I have rebuilt a tranny before, but it stresses me out every time! As far as turning wrenches goes, it's the most stressful part of a build for me.
Here is the tranny in the various major pieces
Here is the bell housing
and the gearset, forks, shift selector, and idler

My air isn't working here, so I have to take the diff to a buddies to have the ring-gear taken off, as well as the speedo gear, and the bearings. After this, all I will need to do is get the new bearings put on the diff, measure for clearence, then I'll be waiting for the shims to get here before re-assembly.

Curious how the paint/dye is holding up on all your interior trim/door pieces. Thinking about doing the exact same thing, found a SEM dealer close to where I live just need to make the trip.

I'll get some of them installed. Thanks on the props. But yes, I will also get some pics of the switches too.

I just saw you're using one of the hardcore bays booster delete plates. My buddy steve is the one who started that company (baggedeg), and he's cool as ****. Glad to see his stuff on quality projects like yours. I'll be using one of his delete plates on my sedan myself here soon.

So I got the car back from paint minus the hood and fenders.
As promised the valve cover:
Here is some with the booster delete kit in and the Wilwood mounted as well:
The break lines will start tomorrow, and as soon as I get the bearings in, I can measure the clearance and get the differential installed........Jason! Then the motor can come off the stand and go into the car. More pics will be uploaded as they are taken.

Just as stated before; the hardlines are all done. Inside and out. I forget how much I hate bending hardlines every time I don't do any for a while. Then I do a job, and remember all over again. Much better than spending $300 on stainless lines though!
These two lines were by far the hardest to cut and flare! Huge pain in the ***! I just didn't want to run the lines from the back of the car to the front, for fear of the lines getting crushed or bent.
Passenger fender well:
Driver fender well:
Here is a shot of the prop valve. One benefit of tucking this unit, is the lack of the need to make the lines look pretty as well:
One big snag I ran into was, if you run the driver's side brakeline through the wheel well, where it's "supposed" to go through, the you either have to modify your clutch lever, or be real creative in running the line in the cabin. I opted for the latter of the two.
Off the bulk-head, hard bend to the northwest, then hard 180* bend to the south, then 90* to the east, and we were home free!

Re: My EK Rescue Project. Shave, Tuck, Boost, In Progress(No 56k)
So I got some more parts(new end tank, some v-band connectors, and a "gt" flange for the turbo housing, along with some piping for my charge-pipe, and an oil restrictor for the turbo) lowered the damn thing, and got the motor in the car. Finally some gratifying progress! I will have some pics of all the parts, and some of the fabbing progress. I get some more tig time @ a buddies house here tomorrow or the next day. By then, I should have some more fuel system parts, and be able to get the thing running. FUN FUN!

Re: My EK Rescue Project. Shave, Tuck, Boost, In Progress(No 56k)
As promised, here is one of the motor in the car.
And as I was talking about in earlier posts, here is the IM ported to 72mm.
Also the v-band welded to the TB
So I got some prepping done in the garage for when I get to go to a buddies to use his tig. I am not the best welder on a tig, but getting better all the time, and it is much more gratifying to do it yourself. I cut the outlet of the endtank off enough to fit the new 3" v-band flange on my intercooler
also bought a new cast endtank from ATP. I then cut it to fit my core. I will use this to replace the stock endtank from Precision, so I can run the single backdoor on the hotside.
I also got some 3'' mandrel piping to fab up the chargepipe. It will be all vband adapters with rubber gaskets. The cold side will also be one piece. A lot less seams for boost to leak from.
I will be hard at work tonight trying to get through the last of this build in a timley manner.

Re: My EK Rescue Project. Shave, Tuck, Boost, In Progress(No 56k)
So here are the pics of the IC, piping:
Filling this hole was a bit tricky, but with a grinder it will look just fine inside.
And the fuel filter and the rail set-up:
Just need some clamps that I will run and get tomorrow.
And the routing while installed. Need to do something about the return, but all things in good time.
I also got the filter tops for the catch can. Actually looks complete now. LOL!
Nothing impressive, but will look pretty good I think. I plan to powdercoat the chargpipe. Just don't know what color yet. I am open to suggestions Just a few more small fittings to attain, and then get the piping back. Then solvent them up to remove any shavings that the air won't get out, then give her a go! Yay!
