Kill switches would be an easy and economical way to add security to a honda. Its not a 100% solution but it will surely slow down a thief. Don't let a mechanic install a kill switch coz he will put it in places same as on other cars he did before. Its better to DIY and select a location for the switch that cannot be seen ( totally hidden ), not in the globe compartment as it is too common. Keep the wires well hidden also. This way, only you would know where is the switch. And hopefully you will forget for the nth time to flip the switch before you start the car.

For added security, install motion activated lighting( 10 $) with a dummy cctv camera near the car. All cheap. But if you have extra cash, use a real camera. Rookie thieves don't have the guts to steal if they know they are being watched.

But remember, hardcore thieves are unstoppable.

Heh, sorry, I was just being silly and having a chuckle
^^;

But you're right, as funny as it would be to have a thief nommed by a pitbull hiding in the backseat, it wouldn't be very plausible.

Well some cheap alternative anti theft methods would be using a HEAVY Pad lock and using it to lock up your steering column(right by the pedals), and the normal locks such as alarm, clutch lock, alpha lock, kill switch, club...nd you should be good.. Good luck

that sucks man, about 8 years ago my dad had a stock EG, it was stolen about 8 times the last time it got stolen the thieves burnt it.
****ing ********, People work hard to pay for cars and put alot of time into them and some bastard just steals it. **** thieves.

I think you should get a Viper alarm or something, Detatchable steering wheel,Kill swtiches and maybe some security film for the windows. Also replace your locks and ignition incase they are worn out.

Ya i would say to just invest in a decent car alarm and install some kill switches and you should be good and just park a vehicle behind it or park it in a manor where it can't be rolled anywhere but i guess it's kind of late for this advice now...

Not for nothing here, but Ive posted this before. I used to live in Jersey City Nj...its literally the #1 capital of stolen cars... for last 10 years.

I had a honda with a swap, kill switch, viper alarm *it was top of the line at the time like 10 years ago* and a shifter lock. On top of that, I paid to park my vehicle in a gated area that was locked.

One morning I go to my lot....cars gone. I go inside to report it stolen, then realize its parked across from my place. The *thieves* I guess were just showing me...if they wanted it, the kill switch/alarm/gate/lock etc wasn't stopping them. They would mess with my car, and me for a little bit.. but they never took it- they'd move it on me all the time.

Moral of the story, you aren't stopping thieves. You can put alarms/gps/kill switches/yada yada yada, it will not stop them. It might deter the 15 year old kids that are "playin" however the guys that steal cars---KNOW how to steal cars. It is my experience that most guys that steal cars, really know cars, and most times work on them as techs/ or installers etc.

Unless you develop some new technology yourself, any product you buy can and will be broken into. I mean, look at the OP situation....my dog barks if I fart 200 feet away. To think thieves jacked a car in your driveway--and nobody heard it etc. says the guys that did it were decent and a kill switch/gps/etc wouldn't have stopped them regardless.

It sucks, but there's really not much you can do about it. If someone with skill wants it....thats that. They had a thing a few years back where a guy with a repo style tow truck were taking cars, from start to finish was under 30 seconds, and all you'd ever hear was the sound of a truck running (not enough to wake) or alert people.

Its VERRY simple! most people who steal are paranoid 24/7! keep a ligh on/TV (that you can see from out side) to make him think you are awake. 2 - Put a light up that shins on you cars!! they wont/will think twice about steeling (or busting your cars glass out) a car when they think your up and theres no shadow to hide them.

(VERRY OLD buddy of mine used to boost cars, thats what he told me would stop him)

There is a lot of good ideas in this thread and I think i will take some of those ideas and tell you what I would do. 1) Take out theft insurance on the car like someone suggested. Your insurance would probably go up in the instance of your car getting stolen however at least you'd get a check from your insurance company 2) Spend some money, build a shed. Get all that crap out your garage so you can park some vehicles in there lol 3) Install a security system, kill switches, yada yada so that when its not in your garage it has some protection.

put it on jacks at night. take all four wheels off. bring them inside. they might bring a spare ecu or a little battery but 4 tires? i think not.

all you can do really is slow em down. vipers, loud alarms, boots, etc. they will get it if they want it bad enough.

i can't think of the name of the company(installed by previous owner) but my car has a ignition killswitch with a little pull out USB like card. without it the car won't start, even if its not in there perfectly. its pretty nice and can be hidden.

FYI, GPS tracking doesn't do jack **** to keep your car safe. It just gives the thief something else to sell on craigslist before you find your car.

Spend $600+ on a quality DEI alarm install with a back up battery, built-in fuel pump kill, manual starter kill.

Here's a good alarm http://www.amazon.com/Python-991-Res...3028647&sr=1-1

A good install will cost more than the alarm. Buy a backup battery, a 2nd siren for inside the car, tilt sensor if needed, and whatever other accessory you deem appropriate.

Or move to somewhere that has a garage, or build one.

My car was stolen about 8 months ago, right from my driveway, i have five dogs, not one bark theres a light out there and it has an alarm and clubs locking the brake and steering wheel, not to mention its right next to our window. Woke up in the morning and it was gone. reported it to the police and seven days later it was dumped on the side of the road. not one thing was wrong with the car, they took about 200 dollars of stuff that was inside. pretty much jsut a ipod that was under the seat i forgot about point is, like everyones been saying if they want it, theyll take it. hopefully yours will turn up.

Park it in between all your cars, thats what i do now, its in between two big chevys, part of my house and the garage door. not going anywhere easily. Chain all your cars together! haha cheap and will slow them down bit, everyones else advice on hear is great! look into some stuff! hope it aall works out for you.

relocate the battery, relocate the hood release cable, install actuators and remove the internal locks, nice alarm with tilt sensor, glass sensor, motion sensor, back up battery an mile range minimum, clutch lock, OnStar - FMV ($200 at bestbuy) it has a GPS locator, kill switches, a smile for the camera sticker and pray every night...

tie a thin black thread anywhere on car, with other end tied to a spring loaded switch hidden in garage/ nearby wall or even floor. which in turn turns on a loud alarm.
A trip flare is a good example

in cali, insurance doesnt go up if you car gets stolen and you have theft coverage. you can call your agent to confirm, at least farmers dont make you pay more if they pay for your stolen car.

IMO the best anti theft , its too chain your front wheel to lower or upper control arm with a very good chain lock. since im chinese, i bought one from china to lock my 1200 dollar bicycle. here in the states you guys dont make good chain locks like china, the lock i have got a special lock cylinder cant be picked or drilled. the chain and joints can take 9 ton bolt cutter. it may sound unconvincing , i dont have a modded civic now, if i do have one that exactly what imma do. i really doubt its gonna get stolen without a tow truck.

i assume most car thieves knows all the gadget you can have to stop or slow them down, but with something simple like a unbreakable chain lock , they cant crack it . they are not gonna take off the control arms and your suspension when you alarm keeps making a loud as noise.

in that case only way to steal it is with a tow truck. not all the thieves have conection of tow truck. plus tow truck is big and loud draws a lot of attention.

A thief will get what he wants if he really wants it. Its something difficult to prevent. Just take precautions with the car like where you go, who your with..etc.
Good luck finding the car. Its a terrible position to be in. Stay up

Don't let people know where your house is locally. Almost everyone that gets hit in my area is someone with a fairly well-known car that isn't hard to find at any given point. Friend's Integra was stolen from the Kroger parking lot two years ago, and his spare motor from his garage, in the same day. He never found exactly who did it but he knew it was someone close to him to hit him both times like that and get away with it. A garage with a car in front of it is about as safe as it gets.
