Default mighty 200whp mark..

well been a while since ive been into all motor (yes boost is a darkside and i love it too) but i wanna do an all motor build since its been a while and i miss vtec. i know its a guessing game and just want to know if im headed in the right direction. searched and it seems like i should be able to reach my goal but everyone is running jdm gsr pistons or itr pistons. and i just wanna know if the 200whp mark is possible with oem gsr pistons and what mods will get me to my goal. here is everything i have laying around.. anything that could be better? obviously car is on 91 octane and yes, its going to be daily driven on stock valvetrain (for now)..

specs:
96' usdm B18c1
buddy club spec III+
skunk2 pro cam gears
blox intake manifold
hondata gasket
hytech replica
2.5" cat
smsp 2.5" catback
3" injen sri
rc 370cc
p28 skunk2 program
ctr n1 crank pulley

I think you're going to need more compression and some real tuning, for starters.

I concur.

The cams are nice. The injectors seem a little much.

so its not possible with usdm gsr pistons? i was thinking of selling my blox intake manifold and getting a s2 pro intake mani and then porting the runners and the inlet. i also have s2 pro cam gears as well.
i figured with the 3" intake, intake mani, mild cams, the hytech replicas and a straight 2.5" exhaust, that i would at least be somewhere close. i mean i guess i dont really NEED 200whp because my car is fully gutted (basically head liner and carpet are the only interior pieces, cluster zip tied to steering column) but i want to be able to say i have 200whp and id like to be able to just eat most cars for breakfast like i could when i had my turbo integra.

by real tuning, im guessing that you mean crome or hondata.. i was thinking about getting hondata. any advantages that the s200 offers over the s100?

its CROME and boycott hondata indeed.

Are you going to do the tuning? or are you gonna have somone else do it?

you really should get that skunk2 chip out of there b4 you break somthing.

drop in some p30 pistons and get the head ported. keep the blox manifold, nothing wrong with it. i made 217 on my old set-up with a unported blox manifold. everythng else you have should work fine. and get a bigger throttle body

get a set of p30 pistons to bump up your compression ratio. the blox mani is good, get a 65-68 mm throttle body and make sure the throttle body has a 68mm opening to a 65mm outlet into the throttle body because if you dont your gonna have to port match the intake mani to the throttle body.

the cams are good. you could go with bc 4's if you wanted. just make sure you tune. make sure u degree the cams properly and the head is setup properly. a set of skunk2 pro cam gears goes a long way.

well the specIII+ is supposed to be comparable to the s2pro1's. i didnt wanna bump my cr or put in stage2 cams because i didnt wanna have to open up the block or change my head internals yet. i do have skunk2 retainers and valvesprings but im gonna wait to drop them in because i dont wanna pull the head.
i was thinking that i would have sean over at church's tune it for me..
p30 pistons would net around 11.8:1 on a gsr block yea? assuming oem headgasket and not milling the head..

if ur gonna upgrade the pistons then y dont u just get a better set of cams than the bc3's buddy club has had the same design for years and there nothing great. get some rocket motorsports m21x's or some pro 1's. and the bc3's are not even comparable to the skunk2 pro 1's. maybe in advertised specs but not in reality. the skunk2 pro1 is a much better cam then bcanything's.

Then you're not going to make 200whp, end of story. Jesus, kid, if 200whp all motor was easy to do on a stock GSR with cams and bolt-ons, everybody would have one You need big cams - and the suggested valvetrain upgrades - and more compression. Period.

There's your answer. You can keep asking questions, but they will all lead back to this statement:

Do it right or do it twice.

you dont have to open the block to change the spring and reatainers. Get the air valve that screws into your spark plug hole, charge it with air to hold the valves in place, and start changing out the springs and retainers. That will get you where you can run any other cam. Good luck with the build.

so what kind of power am i looking at then? what mods do you see making the most power other than what i have listed? and other than internals..

assuming the motor is healthy, you might see 180 or more with those mods you listed above, and if you actually get a tune (those 'programs' are useless)

once again, you won't see 200 whp without internals, nitrous, or boost; simple as that.

what if i cut open the intake mani and port/polish the runners and plenum and add a 68mm throttle body
s2 fuel rail
and a velocity stack intake..

cuz i had seen someone make "200whp" with:
ITR intake cam
RMF narrow header
Blox Intake Manifold
3" Short ram with Prototype Velocity Stack and K&N filter
AEM FPR

on a jdm gsr motor and the compression ratios arent THAT far off.

I dont even know what else. But Hes tuned at 230whp
That car pulls more at 140 than most cars do at 60.

Hondata's filing a lawsuit against PGMFI for stealing code I believe. Read about it here.

http://forum.pgmfi.org/

Edit: I forgot the exact details, so just read about it.
