ls/vtec swap
alright i have a 97 ek with an ls/vtec. i'll get to the point, my motor mount bracket snapped from the motor mount causing my engine to fall on my driverside axle...snapping the axle in half and then hit the ground.
sounds bad but the only damage is one of the studs on the driverside motor mount bracket snapped. now here is where things get a lil confusing for me...
when i bought this car the swap was done already...there is not tranny torque mount that connects to the front cross member, and the driver side mount only connected to one of the upward facing studs on the mount bracket. making things weak as **** til it finally snapped.
i was told i can still use my driverside mount, but i need to replace the bracket with one from a 99 si, AND i need to replace the two studs from a 99 ex. why the hell do i have to differ like that? is the mount bracket shaped differently? its a b16 on the 99si so its the same as say an integra b16 but the bracket must be shaped differently right?
and as far as i know, the brackets all have the same orientation and are only two stud. here is a statement regarding this....
"if your swapping a b18c1 into an ek, you need a driverside motor mount bracket from a 99 civic si, studs from 99 civic ex"
but that bracket connects to the block...I HAVE A B20B BLOCK....hence the "ls/vtec"
please help me out with this i have to have it fixed by this weekend. the si bracket is hard to come by i guess at a dealer and its gotta be ordered.
thanks,
steve

just fyi, b16 head with a b20 block doesnt equal an ls/vtec.
ls/vtec= a vtec head on an LS block hence the L-S-/VTEC. ls=1.8
what you have, is ironically enough called a "b20/vtec"

Re: (stevew84)
b16/b18 either way, its the same ****. a vtec head is a vtec head. and honestly they way you have worded your post confuses the hell out of me.
