Nah stupid. Pop them off and put them on the inside, hoses on the outside. Hit the washer fluid and POOF! instant engine cooling.

But seriously though, no one is saying that shimming your hood will increase the chances of it shearing the bolts and sending it through the windshield, ventilating your neck.

On some vehicles, there are "hooks" on the body side under the hood, towards the windshield, that, in case of a severe frontal collision and the bolts DO shear and the hinges DO fail, the "hooks" will catch the back end of the roof and bend it before it reaches the windsheld, and your head behind it.

Shimming might allow the hood miss the hooks in he event of just such an accident.

There are better ways to cool the engine/engine bay.

Yeah, I actually got some advice from Leon, who got the idea from Bisi. I don't think I'm going to do it now, since I don't have the cf hood collecting dust in my garage anymore. I was planning on cutting the holes, painting the ducts flat black and riveting them on, and then colormatching the hood to my car, but now that I'd be starting from scratch, I don't know, it's going to get costly.

lol, I notice everyday. I sold a set of nozzles in the classifieds, thinking that I had two extra's laying around. However, I didn't, so I had to snag one off my own car to send the guy... Still haven't made it around to getting another one from the junkyard.

The wheels are only temps, I've got a set of Super Advan Sa3r's in the garage, I've just got to give them a little tlc before I put tires on them.... They will definitely be in action at HIN Miami though....

Where did you guys get those ducts? I want some for the front of my bumper to route cold air to my AEM v2 intake.

I've seen this enough...

How can it help cool? well depending on if there is a good space there... It allows a way for the air that gets trapped in the engine bah to come out even more easily than just going down and under the car under the engine. Secondly, hot air rises, so if he was sitting in one place, it could vent. Overall how effective? not a clue.

As for aerodynamics... raising the back would decrease the angle at the winshield would it not? I am no expert, but I would think that could help in some way. Why wasn't this stuff done in factory? looks... cost.... easier for short people to see out of... I mean, the newer model cameros are a perfect example of a cowl design like that. Just take a look at them.

Anyways, this is all an amatures standpoint, no numbers, no actual truth except for the more escape points for air, as well as hot air rising. But it all does make sense doesn't it?

Lol.. the lower part of windshield where the windshield wipers are has a very high pressuer zone for air, alot of air is cought there, i saw a post earlier saying muscle cars have been doing this forever, this is true, its just another escape route for better airflow, doesnt necesarily help your car go faster, but it does get more air to your ITBs. its the same idea with hatches that cut holes in their back bumpers because that has a high pressure zone for air too, hence more airflow. its all mental, do what you wanna do.

i dont know why everyone is hating on this soooo bad, i do think that it is stupid looking, but it serves it purpose, i dont ever see any1 flame on some1 removing there bumper supports, "oh now when you get into a wreck, the motor is going to sitting on your lap," c'mon guys, its a simple known fact that muscle cars have used this same thing for like ever, and know that some sport compacts are trying to get some more effeciency out of there cars, every1 hates on them. i explained this last time in the thread just like this, that was about two weeks ago, but here i will explain it again, but also keep in mind that heat rises, so cowling the hood lets air escape that way too

ok say you were standing by a river with a strong *** curent, and you stick a 2 liter bottle with the cap off, into the river flowing into the bottle cap, so it fills this bottle, the bottle cap represents the front of your car, where the radiator sits behind the front bumper that allows air into the bay, here is the water and the bottle, the water is flowing this way >>>>>>>>>>

>>>>>>>>>current of water>>>>>>>(bottle opening end of bottle)>>>>>

now the water has filled the bottle, and since the back is closed, like our hoods should be, the water/air cant escape, so the water just goes around the bottle like so

>>>>>>>>>>>>&g t;>>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>(bottle)
>>>>>>>>>>>>&g t;>>>>>>>>>

but now say you cowl the hood/prop the hood at the end, now new water/ cool air will be freely flowing into the bay constantly, caz the air can escape through the back of the propped hood, instead of just sitting there, here is the "diagram" of that

>>>>>>>>>>>>&g t;>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>&g t;>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>(top is open and the back is cut out)>>>>>>>>>>>&g t;>>
>>>>>>>>>>>>&g t;>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>&g t;>>>>>>>

so propping your hood will let air flow into the bay, instead of having the air just get stuck, this will help with ram air systems dramitically, and help itb's tremendously, but if you have a cai, which i hate caz of hydro-lock scares me, it wont help you out as much, but it will still help

if no1 can understand this i will try to reword this again, but i think you all shouldn't have trouble understanding it

with the hood raised in back (or with a cowl hood) the high pressure zone at the bottom of the winshield actually forces air down under the hood. this is the opposite of what most people think (its not letting air escape at speed, rather drawing in more air). this would obviously be of benefit with itb's, or for cooling, but will also probably get your engine pretty dirty, as water and dust will be blowing down into your engine compartment from the back of the hood with all that air. i cant see it being unsafe, but i would be sure to buy good bolts if youre going to do it.

i dont have itbs, so as such my hood is in the stock location.

Since y'all are all hating on it...

Would you rather see this or a cowl hood on a car with ITBs or a JRSC?

If you're just going to jump on the bandwagon and say expletive them both, don't bother replying to me.

hell no, they are solid pieces of metal, the actual plastic bumper itself is there to protect the 5-10 mph "bumps"
