k-series swap
ok so i plan on doing a swap this winter i have a civic 2000dx, i've been looking at b16s and b18s and now k-series swaps so i just have a few questions about the k-series swaps!
1.)how much do they cost to get the engine and have it put in, (roughly)
2.) is the k-series swap alot more money then the b-series
3.)is the k-series that much faster then a b18c5???
4.) whats the horse power rating on a k-series type-s engine???
thanks for your time guys and i'm srry if this was already posted~

Re: k-series swap (jfrase06)
You will be faster if you get a GSR and build and boost it.
K20 swaps approach 10 grand once you work out the cost of the motor and the little things that you need to make it fit and work properly.
A k24 with a type S head would be the best most cost effectave choice.

Re: k-series swap (_.Sarge._)
Its one of the most expensive swaps out there, even if you do it yourself. Your looking at close to $7-9K spend when all is said and done, and ALLOT of time spent working. I rate it as one of the hardest of any honda swaps.

but its the motor itself thats just sick. Go type in K20 on youtube or streetfire, and tell me thats not some crazy all-motor stuff. High reving and 6spd all motor, doesnt get much better than that (besides boost)

1.)how much do they cost to get the engine and have it put in, (roughly)
~9K would be my best guess
2.) is the k-series swap alot more money then the b-series
Depends on what B-Series...but since you said B18C5 I'll go with that. Hmotorsonline sells B18C's and C5's for right around 4-5K and it's a MUCH easier swap(pretty much plug and play).
3.)is the k-series that much faster then a b18c5???
Alot of factors.
4.) whats the horse power rating on a k-series type-s engine???
~200 at the crank...160-170 to the wheels stock
For the money, you could get a B18C1...build it...and boost it and be able to "git up and scoot".
~9K would be my best guess

Yeah there motor is nice but IMO its not worth all the money i have driven a hatch with K20 swap i admit i had a really fun time driving it i but i also driven a H22 hatch that will rip the K20 apart and cost alot less to build

Cosmetics, huh? Interesting choice.
As for the powerplant, I'd go with a GSR motor with a GT-based turbo kit. You could put one together for about $6000 with tuning if you're good at spending money. If not, make friends with someone who knows their ****.
That leaves you about $4000 to dump into suspension and "cosmetics".
Then again, if I had $10,000 and a Civic, I'd sell the ******* Civic and use the $10,000 and the profit from the Civic as a down payment on a car that doesn't suck . Shoot, you could pay for almost all of a used RSX-S or take care of more than half the cost of a brand new Si coupe or sedan with that much scratch.

1) anywhere from 6-10 grand. you could swap an A2 in for 8 grand or even less if you shop around for the best deals
2) can be
3) depends on what K you're comparing it with
4) 02-04 RSX type s: 200 hp, 142 lbs torque; 05-06 RSX type s: 201 hp, 140 lbs torque trq
The K series is where it's at

RSX Type-S is a good daily driver with some speed potential. An Eclipse GT V6 is not AND it's a gay girl's car that handles like a grocery bag full of soggy dick. Any Subaru that's moderately fast will cost you out the anus in insurance and you'll end up breaking it because you're a noob who doesn't know what to do with power - as evidenced by the questions you're asking

Yes, many people have Type-R Integra motors in their Civics. If you're a good driver, high 13's on street tires is within range. Good boltons and a set of slicks can put you in the low 13's if you can really shift the **** out of it.
Or, for nearly the same amount of money, you can have a boosted B18B and walk all over anything listed here. Just a thought. I suggest you do about eight days' worth of research before you spend a dime on anything. It's pretty obvious that you don't know anything about these kinds of projects and - as your friendly neighborhood self-esteem smasher - I'm going to -gently- recommend that you get a lot more learnin' under your belt before you blow that $10k on the wrong setup.

A b18c5 is definately better than a k20 swap...
but it also depends on what your goal is? If your going boost, id go GSR..but if your planning to go all motor id go Type R..
the compression ratio of a type r is so high..

I disagree, the k20 is a MUCH better motor than the c5. Though the c5 is a MUCH less of a headache to swap.
If he's serious about n/a, then he needs the displacement of a built b20 or an h22/f20b
b18c5's are nice and all, but you HAVE to have high compression to get power out of them. With an h22 he can keep stock compression and make good power.
