Default JDM D15B or JDM D16A SOHC VTEC Motor?

ok, so i have a choice to pick between two longblocks: either the jdm d15b or the d16a. what would be the better choice?? i know the jdm d15b is basically a vx bottom with a ex head, and a jdm d16a is equivalent to the usdm d16z6 right?

JDM D16a = USDM D16z6. If they are the same price, go with a D16a because you will be able to install aftermarket internals if you ever deceide to.

the d15b has the same or almost the same hp and torque as a obd0 ls. the d15b is a real peppy motor. i had it in my crx with bolt-ons and ran a 14.9 . Great Motor For The Price If You Ask me

D15B VTEC all the way!!

My CRX beat my friends EG with D16A VTEC.

I had an HF tranny which suck *** but my friend also had and CX tranny which suck *** too.

Now with my Si tranny install, its much quicker.

be careful, if i understood correctly, there are 3 kinds of JDM D15B's one is a Vtec-E motor (simmilar to the D15Z1 the VX's came with) theese are characterised by being the only valvecover that actually states "VTEC-E" on it. also there is another which is simply SOHC VTEC, its characterised by the single Vtec solenoid and then there is the 3-stage Vtec (characterised by the dual solenoids), which to my understanding is a mix of vtec-e ending at 2k rpm, regular sohc non-vtec until 5k where (i think its 5k rpm) Sohc Vtec engages, bringing to home to the redline. someone correct me if im wrong
