dude, almost every car on the road has weights hammered on the outside lip. it looks ugly and it scratches your rims. but it balances the wheel better than flat weights glued to the inside of the rim.

What was the name of the guy that told you they were SSR Type X's?? My homie worked there for a fairly long time, and I am close with the owner of TechIII. In fact, I was just there yesterday, so you must have just gotten the rims. I'm pretty sure I know who told you they were SSR's. If you want anything from TechIII, hit me up first and I will take care of you. I do outside sales for the shop and they have supplied me with all kinds of stuff. I strongly recommend them, but there is the new guy. In fact, I will PM you right now...
And if I am not mistaken, I believe the few who said they were Tom's rims are correct.

Re: (Chris y0!)
wheels can still be balanced perfectly with sticky weights. and if you need alot of weights on a wheels its not a good thing to begin with. both are affective

Re: identify these rims...plz (egturbo)
Tom's Racing sports wheel. Wheel that the Koni Burner is based on.
Tom's is known for their Toyota tuning and those wheels were seen a lot on the AE92 and AE111 Corollas (FF).

those wheels are nice, I just dont like how the red is damaged , I would probably polish the lip. How much did you pay for those wheels?

the original rims on this thread look like a polished version of the rims above that someone hit up with a can of red anodize-look spraypaint. you can see where they painted over the valve stem and wheel weights. you can also see how it was poorly masked on the edges.
