IACV code 14 d16y8
I have a CEL come up, I replaced the IACV and the CEL came back on after only a day, before I installed new IACV I cleaned it out with carb cleaner, whenever I reset ECU it works fine for about a day. When the CEL comes out the car sputters while driving and not pressing the throttle. Any ideas?

Re: IACV code 14 d16y8
I'm pretty sure it's code 14, I'm not sure because I checked it a while back but it's whatever the IACV code for the CEL is. also my idle is sputtering whenever the light shows up...

I had read in other posts that this engine doesn't have a FITV and I've tried adjusting the idle valve and nothing : ( ..any other suggestions?

Yeah your probably right, I've never worked on a single before.
If you tried cleaning the IACV. And that doesnt help then adjust the idle screw. Still doesnt help check to see if the throttle cable is to tight or check if you have a vacuum leak some where. And if that still don't help try adjusting your dizzy back and fourth. Though most likely your timing won't be it. But you never know

So I have to disconnect the hose, and while it's disconnected i spray it and the idle should change if it has a leak or should i disconnect the hose, spray it and then connect it again and then if the idle changes it has a leak?

no just spray leave everyting connected and spray it around the hoses, gasket and manifold, if the engine wants to run good youve found the vacuum leak

DAMN thats exactly what my girls car is doing now... my code it was throwing up was P0505 i think it was.... did u change the IACV to a new one or used? I bought one brand new from ebay OEM for about 140. It should be coming in this week hopefully that fixes the problem!

Yeah don't disconnect the hose. That won't tell you anything. All your doing is looking for a crack or hole in one of the vaccum hoses, also you can spray it on your T/B or I/M gasket to see if there's a leak in one those. When you hit the right spot the brake cleaner will clog the hole and your idle will change for just a few seconds, then when it evaporates, it will go back to the way it was. And that's where your leak is.

Moving the idle screw, or cleaning the FITV will not fix the IAC code. If your throwing a code 14 then there is either something wrong with 1. IAC, 2. wiring or 3. ECU. Check your wiring, then the ECU.

Re: IACV code 14 d16y8
New symptom, I disconnected the battery so that I could clear the CEL. Obviously code is gone for now, so I turned on the car, let it warm to op. temp. and started spraying carb cleaner. When I sprayed it where the intake manifold meets the head close to the injectors the idle would lower for a bit. also the idle will not go below 1500 RPMS I'm thinking new gasket? could this be the vacuum leak?

What I wrote was a general for others who read this thread later on. Some motors have FITV and others dont. When your car has a fluctuating idle (with no code) THEN cleaning the FITV might help. Not when theres a code.
Has the intake manifold ever been taken off before? Could be a vac leak from a ripped gasket, but i havent seen a code due to a bad gasket. Car idling have the intake taken off and cover the top hole, does the car die or stay on?

When I had a fluctuating idle, cleaning the FITV fixed the problem on my LS
Keep us updated, I'm curious to know what it is

Re: IACV code 14 d16y8
Problem is finally fixed, turns out it was the intake manifold gasket, i put a bunch of gasket make in the space between the head and the manifold and let it dry over night and everything is back to normal...this is only a band aid i will replace the gasket pretty soon...

Re: IACV code 14 d16y8
No CEL usually when i would reset the ECU the car would throw a CEL by the time I got halfway to work...the car is idleing at 750 again and is no longer making the RPM go up and down constantly...
