Default I ran into a mail box

I was backing out of my friends driveway and I backed into his mailbox. It was a white mailbox and it got a white streak acroos the rear panel. I tried rubbing it off with some wet rag, but it wouldnt work. I also tried getting a car wash too. That didnt work either. Anyone have any ideas of how I can get it out? maybe with with wetsanding it off or something. There doesnt seem to be a guouge in my body. It just seems like the paint of the mail box rubbed on there really good.

Yes, rubbing compound...and asking this question in the Detailing forum or the Appearance/Cosmetic rather than in the Civic forum. You'll get alot more help there.

You have 248 posts. How are you a trial user?

Then there's something wrong with your account. You've been here for over a year, you're not trial. Use some 3M Perfect-It II.

I know it sounds strange, but if you think about it, its not. Try toothpaste. Just the regular Crest stuff.

So your'e gonna rub gritty *** toothpaste all over your paint? I don't see the scientific logic in that, perhaps you can explain.

Scientific logic right here:

Most toothpastes use the same concept as a hand polish. They have something called diminishing abrasives. They're very fine abrasives suspended in clumps in an emollient solution, and as heat in the form of friction is applied, these clumps break down slowly. This allows the polishing agent to go from abrasive to non-abrasive gradually.

Eran and NOFX are the **** when it comes to detailing. I'd highly recommend you consider their advice.

Hahaha.

Toothpaste works just fine. Thats what I'd use on my daily beater, but on good paint I'd probably not take a risk and use something professional.

Thread title cracked me up for some reason.

no, your a dipshit for being a smartass when what I said actually works just fine. Maybe you should hold your tongue next time and consider that even you could actually learn something new, "son"

Toothpaste works really well for this type of thing, I've used it on several cars for different reasons and I have never had a problem. Eran's explination seems on point.
