Default Horn broke how to get started?

Hey guys, noob here would appreciate some feedback. I own a 92 civic hatch DX and wanted to know where the fuse for the horn is located. I bought the car without the manual and the horn does not work. I'm getting my car inspected this week and I don't know where to begin. I know the fuses are located underneath the wheel on the left side panel, but some people say it's under the hood. When I pop the hood I don't see any fuse so i think they're under the wheel on the left side panel have to pop it open. Which fuse it is, and what to look for?

I found this picture, does it looks like it may help in any case? Is it the correct picture for my car?

http://autoforums.carjunky.com/Autom...A_CIVIC_P3020/

Also found this thread.

https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-civic-del-sol-1992-2000-1/help-please-need-diagram-fuse-panel-eg-1775437/

I see no horn fuse displayed. Does it say "horn fuse" or something similar? Or it is under some other category. If so which one?

Called a local auto repair and they will check it for me at no charge. If it's the horn that only cost like $20 to buy it. I can sleep now.

Ok before I take it to shop tomorrow I have a question. I checked under the hood earlier to see where the horn is locate and I can't find it. I hope the previous owner didn't take it out. No horn, i'm screw, can't pass inspection. I check the fuse label under the dash and there is no label that says "horn fuse" so I didn't know which fuse it was to look for. Can somebody tell me which fuse is for the horn?

The horn fuse is under the hood. You'll find a link to fuse box diagrams in the FAQs sticky.

It might not be as simple as a fuse or a missing horn. It may be a broken clock spring under the steering wheel. I think the 92's may have them (like 93's). Would require pulling the steering wheel (careful of air bag). Or could be broken horn button on steering wheel. Research FAQ's.

Hmm I see. I found the fuse box under the hood now but it has no label. The one that has the label is under the dash only. I'll check the FAQ out. Thanks.

I took the car to the mechanic shop and they open the hood and wow there was no horn installed to it. The previous owner took it out. The shop found out that the car I have was from the previous owner was from South Carolina they didn't need horn to pass inspection. I paid the shop $30 just for that. What a waste! They have a local vendor that has the horn kit and they could just install it for me and it cost $100 for the horn kit and they charge $99 for an hour labor. Sucks. And I currently use my 10 day free pass from the DMV only. Sucks! What should I do? I know there has to be some cheaper horn kit out there. Are the horn kit the same for all civics or are they different?

South Carolina has no inspection laws. Have you ever seen the pieces of S*!t people drive there? Turn signals are optional too.

Either goto a junkyard and get a horn or goto something like advance auto or Vatozone and pick up a universal, shouldnt be more than 20$ and clip it onto the existing wires.

Ok, so I am seeing here a horn cost around $20 from advanced auto parts. Will this one work?

http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/buy...orn-parts.html

Hmm... The previous owner swap the engine so I'm not sure about the wires. I don't remember the wires being under the hood or anywhere. Where can I get the wires?

This is on a 93, location is the same. You need to look for a set of wire(s) as I dont know the horn comes with 2 or has one and uses the frame for gnd.

I'll just find the parts that are the cheapest and I'll let the shop install it. I could take the bumper down myself but then I wouldn't know what to do to the rest. Any idea what set of wires or horns to look for? I don't think the wires are there, it has to be install in it. I could be wrong though.

is there a junkyard you can pull your own parts from? If so cheep and youll see how it all comes apart and goes together. It really just plug in and bolts on 2 wires 1 bolt.

I don't recall offhand but I don't think I can see my horns from inside the engine bay.

No the bumper cover comes off it's those 5-6 large Phillips screws on top and one on each side upside-down by sidemarkers. It is really easy put a teat light between the two wires if they are there your horn is probably really there they just didn't see it. Put a test light in the circuit and see if it lights up when the horn button is pushed. Glad we don't have any type of inspection in Ohio and we got some pos on the road here.

You might want to pick up a Haynes manual #42024 for 92-95 civics.
Or check your library.
They have wiring diagrams and a lot of useful info.
Page 12-25 shows a Blue-Red wire to the horn and a black wire for ground.
The wire goes to a horn relay so you might be missing that too?

Civics are fun to work on and mechanic shop hours cost can add up fast.

Dam. I think the mechanics didn't even take my bumper off. they just open the hood and say 'there's no horn man". "you need horn kit. we can order it for you and it'll go toward the labor fee". And I already paid $29 just for that crap, they didn't fix anything, that $29 is waste.

Does anybody know where I can find a cheap horn kit and which one to look for? Sorry guys I just don't know what to do now. I'm thinking of buying a cheap horn kit and bring it over the same mechanic shop and have they install it. this will drop that $29 that I paid them initially.

Hey I appreciate those links man. Wish it was sooner. I took it to the shop today and they found out the relay was bad. So what they told me they will install a new relay and wired it up and install a push horn for me. It'll be like $150 including labor. Thing is I'm currently using a 10 day pass to get the car inspected so I might just let them do it.
