Default HELP: b18c5 in 97 del sol si (first car)

alright so this is my first car ever bought. i have a b18c5 swap into the car.
problem is i need to replace a new header and possibly new intake.
i have about 1300 to spend.
i was thinking about buying a dc 4-2-1 header because my car is low and there are a lot of speed bumps out there.
and perhaps a skunk2 intake manifold.

honestly i have no knowledge when it comes to cars yet. this is my first time coming into this scene.
i was to keep my car from 200-210 hp.
just for fun on the express ways.

can someone help me find the best parts possible for my del sol?
quality parts but also cheap and affordable please.

Why does the header and intake need to be replaced?

well for the header, supposedly he speed over a speed bump and it detached or something or crack. im taking it to a shop within the next 2 days but i wanna do some price estimates. the cold air intake that he gave me with the car doesnt fit because of the swap.

ive been trying to look for parts the past couple days and im very new at this. i would have to buy parts that fit the type r swap rather then the del sol fit?
i was planning on buying a new intake manifold because i dont know if the one i have on it is reliable. this is my first car so i kinda wanna go all out.

Dc headers aren't that great. The only good thing is they are carb legal. Id go with the stock jdm itr header.

Do u plan on getting it tuned? Because if you change the intake manifold your gonna need to do that.
What do u have now? Why is it not "reliable"?

well don't go all out on it until you replace whats needed since you are on budget. get whats needed first.
btw w/ cai, header, intake manifold, etc.....will not net you 200-210whp.

your right, i should just change whats needed first.
i was looking at dc headers but would you guys suggest anything else with prices too, possibly links.
im trying to get my car running back up within the next 2 weeks.
i probably wont changed the intake manifold but i will need a new cold air intake and filter. right now my car has one but wont fit. can you suggest some along with prices too.

You could probably modify the one you have to make it fit.
id personally go with aem cai because its legal. But its overpriced. You can get one on ebay for half the price that will do the same thing.

where are located before we just throw parts that'll pass a BAR.

an ebay short ram. vstack and filter. win. 80-100 depending on the pipe price.
as for a header anything above 500$ should be good. you can also buy some replica headers off ebay that work decent but its a 50/50 chance when you get it how well it'll work.

it'll take more work then this to get to 200-210 whp.

Just get a one of those Type R replica 4-1 headers. Make sure it's a one piece though. For me I currently have a 4-2-1 two piece header, had a lot of leaks took me a while to troubleshoot it and stop it. I used to have a Type R replica 4-1 crushed the **** out of it due to going too low. (Regret changing it out now) 4-2-1 = More towards low-end. 4-1 = more towards high end. As for the intake, if you live in California might as well get a ebay pipe and K&N filter. Unless you bar'd your motor. Del Sol Vtec will be the parts you will be looking for now since you have a DOHC.

ohh someone said you live in cali so i assumed. but yeah if you want im sure there is a shop that can fab up a cold air intake for your car. but as someone said just get the cai that was made for the delso with a b16 and the tri-y headers are pretty good but they do sit pretty low from what i hear. a solution for that can be just to raise your car up just enough?

my opinion lol get a 50 dollar header from ebay..... as long as you stay lowered your gonna pancake it or just out and out crack it..... your out 50 bucks instead of 600.... crack 10 cheapo's and still not touch the price of a "real" one..... plus a header is a header, and i know the pricey ones gain you an extra 6-8 hp over an ebay, and i know the egay's are hit and miss but unless you raise your car at least a little bit, you might as well paypal me the 600 bucks, cause your throwing it away anyways

how much would it usually cost to raise the car back up?
i have a friends dad willing to hook me up with everything i need with my car at the shop.
but im paying him a bit, but i dont also dont wanna low ball him.
whats the average on that at reg shops. cause im really considering lifting it up a bit.

depends on what suspension set up you have... if you have coilovers then it will be super easy and wont cost anything in parts to raise it (and you can do it yourself... it really is that easy)

... this would be easier if you posted up a pic of your car.... a decent shot of your car and if you could... your suspension (take off a wheel, snap picture where wheel would be), then we would be able to tell you right away if you need to raise your car or not and how you would go about doing it

^ he is right some people think my car is super low when its not that low to me so people have differences of opinion and a shop raising your car can cost 100 to 2000 thats just a rough est

i have my car garaged somewhere right now. i cant even get to it. im really new into cars, i barely know much about it just a bit. but if i had my car lowered (would that mean i already have coilovers installed) and wouldnt i be able to just raise it back up? sorry if i sound stupid. but thanks for your input.

it necessarily doesn't mean you would have coilovers. for all you know it could be cut springs. take off your front wheel and take a pic in the wheel well lol and post it
