You'd have better luck posting in the suspension forum (or having a mod move this thread there) and also telling us what kind of driving you are looking to do.

'nice drop' is a few inches? or a lot? getting some lowering springs would give you a decent drop. coilovers are what you want if you wanna slam your car and eibach is good for both, i rolled on ground controls for a long time and they rode pretty good

I like the Tein Basic full coils, had them on my civic for almost 2 years now they work fine, perfect for daily driving.

Depends what your budget is, and what kind of setup you are looking for. Street? Track? Daily driver? Throw us some info here.

You're still being vague. If you want help you need to tell us what your budget is! "Not a grand" isn't exactly specific, is it? Do you mean $500.00? $750.00?

hmm...I'll just throw out a bunch of coilover names.

SKUNK2!! TEIN!! ZEAL!! KW!! OMNI!!!!

Any of those will work based on your information. Why is everyone reluctant to give out any sort of useful information now a days? It's like pulling teeth.

WTF kind of car do you have?
WTF are you using this setup for? (since you didn't say anything specifically, you probably just want to use it for a DD..and you probably want it SLAMMED!!!!!!!!11!!ELEVEN!!)
WTF is your budget. SPECIFICALLY?
WTF got you set on coilovers?

WTF?! DETAILS!!

BTW, as a general rule,

Good, name brand lowering springs with nicely matched shocks > cheapo coilovers. For a DD.

Kind of.

Get some Ground Controls and Konis. You're NOT going to get quality full coilovers for $1k unless they're stolen or used.

So either look for some stolen/used coilovers in the stolen/used parts section or buy something more sensible like Koni/GCs. You don't need full coilovers for a DD anyway. Get some OTS Ground Controls. The konis are adjustable. Good ride, good handling, and they're around $800ish.

Or buy lowering springs that lower the car to the height you want.

Okay now we're talking!

My suggestion from first-hand experience is Eibach Pro Street S coil-overs. I run them on my daily driver 1990 Civic wagon and they ride amazingly smooth, and they're under your $1,000.00 limit.

Tire Rack sells the set-up for $845.00!!! <------ (clickable link to their page)

There are tons of choices for under $1,000.00 but from the numerous set-ups i've personally ran, or installed and driven on for countless customers and friends I'd say this is the best overall system for daily driving. It is NOT stiff enough IMO to run competitively in auto-X or road race on, but that's not what you're asking for.

Here's a pic of how low my DD sits:

As low as it is it rides incredibly smooth.

I've got Function and Form Type 1 coilovers which aren't dampening adjustable but are height adjustable both from the shock body and at the springs themself. Picked up my set for about $600 and lovin it so far. Then again, I'm also slammed so I might just not care about some things that are more important to you...
